...there was a thread posted at the start of the season asking members if they had three players to choose that could tilt the field who would you choose for the Cowboys?
Some of the more popular responses were Ed Reed, Peyton Manning, etc.
Looking foolish I believe I was the only one who said Adam Vinatieri. :
Anyways, I want to suggest something to fellow forumites. This past game at Seattle shows exactly how important a kicker can be.
Players on offence and defence do contribute more plays on the field and have a greater possibility of making that game altering play. But players can also be gameplanned against and negated such as the job we did on Alexander.
The great thing about a kicker is that within his range the only thing a team can do to negate the kicker is to call a timeout to ice him a bit more or taunt the snapper into a bad snap. There is nothing the defence can do to negate his kick other than break through and block the kick.
In closely contested games late in the year, in bad weather, the kicker is often your best friend for sure points. The colder the ice in his veins the more confident a team can be in a close game.
Let's think about a real kicker for the Cowboys next year and possibly get one to complement the defence we are developing.
