Reminder: New Sopranos season begins tonight

To all my fellow HBO addicts, the new season begins tonight.

Don't forget to set your TiVos, VCRs, or just plain watch it.

I have to confess, I'm a little disappointed with this season. I thought it was going to be the last one and was ready for the whole family to go out with a bang but now that they've signed on for some more episodes next season, I know they'll prolong some of the storylines.

For you fans of the other shows:

Deadwood Season Three starts airing in June.

Rome Season Two was just finalized. It's hard to find a date on when it will air but production has just started.

And their newest project, Big Love, premieres tonight after The Sopranos. If you haven't seen the previews, it's a drama about polygamy. Right up HBO's alley. :laugh2:

The last 5 minutes saved it from being an otherwise average episode... well, that and Meadow's strip tease at the beginning.

Congrats Meadow, you've been eating your vegetables!!!

A couple years ago, she was on the Kirstie Alley bandwagon... now she looks like she could work at the "Bing."

Yeah that got my attention also

Overall it was a good episode but the problem was they had too much catching up to do. It was too much for one episode.

I just didn't understand why, with all the story lines they could be developing, they spent so much time with the no-name guy who had the inheritance? It'd have been one thing if he was going to become a major character this season, but he obviously isn't now that he's hanging from his basement.

Maybe the producers have something in mind with him, but I just thought his story line was a waste of time for the premier.

I also didn't like how much screen time Vito had. I think it's totally implausible if he becomes a major character.

Give me Tony, Paulie, Sil, and Chrissy and I'm satisfied.

I like the Tony/Carm sideplots... those are fine. Also, I could stand more AJ and Meadow... especially Meadow!

Anyway, we'll see where this goes. If anything, the inheritance-guy subplot did convey one message clearly... THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY OUT OF THE FAMILY!


BTW, where' the hell is Brainpaint in this discussion???

Danny I think you hit one point on why they had the no name guy killed off...to show that nobody leaves the family.

But I also think it will possibly show the desperation that the FBI may run into and who will be the next snitch as the no name guy and the old guy both are dead now.

I don't mean to be a tease... but I pulled Meadow's dance off of the program last night. I just can't figure out how to host an AVI. My photobucket account won't let me do it.

Oddly enough, as cute as i think she is, I have seen better strips or dances on the net...it really was not that great even if it was meadow.

Seriously... she may not be in my Top 10, but I was impressed by her performance. I really thought she was heading towards Chunk City a couple years ago. She's really pulled out of that nose dive and has every right to be proud of what she's got.

An eating disorder tends to help one lose weight lol

I'm not making fun of people with eating disorders. I have one myself. Every time I bend my elbow my mouth flies open.

I'm not condoning eating disorders... I'm just saying Tony Soprano NEEDS to have a hot daughter to make the show more interesting. Quite frankly, it wasn't that realistic that Jackie Jr would date the tubby "old" Meadow.

Now that Ade is out of the picture... what kind of messed up situation would we have if Chrissy started getting eyes for Meadow? Now that would be interesting!

I was listening on the radio this morning and the guy offered some interesting speculation on what this season might do:

He thought that maybe Tony Soprano IS dead and that the next 12 episodes will fill in all that has occured before this first episode and after season 5's last episode. It makes sense to me because 1) it was supposed to be the last season, I don't know if they re-signed James Gandolifini, 2) a lot did happen between season 5 and 6, Christopher is a captain now, the fat closet gay mafioso is suddenly in the ranks and lost a helluva lot of pounds, 3) the back story for the guy who came out of nowhere and killed himself, 4) I didn't see a preview for next week. Did anyone else? I TiVo'd it and it stopped recording right when the new show started, and I didn't see any of the normal previews.

Well... I doubt they'd do something that crazy but it was a fun theory to listen to.

You had the one guy loosing a bunch of weight and talking about it.
You had tony weighing himself and over eating.
You had the FBI agent who lost weight due to a stomach virus.

No it could just explain how people have changed over the time period but I just found it odd. I doubt people would really care much about the guys losing the weight before, tony has gained a lot of weight over the course of the shows.

Just seemed odd.

I was watching one of HBO's three minute summaries on every season to try and get back with the story before watching a new season and holy cow does James Gandolfini look skinny compared to his current weight! He looks like a tiny man compared to the current Tony Soprano. He's gotten so out of shape, I don't think he can mess with those Eastern European (or were they Russian?) ****** anymore. :

I read something similar as well... also that the beginning of the first episode may have been in the present, and the end was flashing ahead to the end of the show (Tony getting shot and the guy hanging himself).

Boy, that plot summary really does make it sound like they are flashing backwards. I think I need to re-watch the Egyptian God dialogue at the beginning. Maybe I missed something.
