I know a lot of fans get down on him, and I definitely know the man has haters who think of him as a choke artist, but this young quarterback is the best thing to ever happen to us.

Despite coming in the league in 2003, remember he has only started a little over 2 and a half seasons of football...

He has a 27-12 record as a starter. Has a career completion rating of 63.6, and a 94.7 career QB rating.

Has he done it in the playoffs? No, not that I'll ever blame him for either playoff loss.

But compare him to the Golden Child of the position. Peyton Manning. Dude was drafted in 1998, and didn't win a playoff game until his 6th season in the nfl.

We're quick to write someone like him off. But I say we should be happy to have this talent. And I want to say I hope he can keep up his numbers and success without Owens, releasing him was a huge mistake.

I love Romo also, but we went 10-6 with QC and 9-7 with Drew Bleedslow as well.

Romo is the new TO. Until he gets over the December hump there will be plenty to say about him. Stats scmats. Give me wins or take this criticism. There's no longer anyone on this team to use as a scapegoat. Garrett and Romo will need to get this offense on track and roll it beyond the last day of November... on track. No more train wrecks in December please...

we've not had much good happen since the tripletts, have we? :)

Not by a long shot. This drought surpasses anything since the Landry years. Calling Romo the GREATEST thing - is way too premature, let him do something then you can crow.

I have said this many times.

I wish I would have had the internet and the current media and social networking existed in 1991 before aikman won a superbowl. People would have hammered him constantly.

I cant imagine what people would have thought of him after the loss at detroit in november of 1991, aikman was terrible and the main reason we lost. Then later in the year in the divisional round of the playoffs Aikman who many thought was healthy enough to start didnt, then we got blown out and aikman came in late and stunk it up again.

I would pay good money to know the reaction in todays world, aikmans stretch of games in 1991 would have got. It wouldnt have been pretty. And lost of the people here would have been calling for his head.

Now, I say this to prove the point that you can make final decisions on players still learning and still gaining important experiences, FYI before some numbskull thinks I dont think aikman was good or Romo is aikman.....etc etc etc.......

I think this is a make or break year for Romo. Either he gets over the hump, or we languish for a few more years with a QB that is a little less than Danny White.

I'm already on the McGee bandwaggon. That's just how I roll. :spidey:

You can call me a homer if you want, but there are a lot of players on this team that I am going to really enjoy for a long time.

Tony Romo is one of them for sure. I love the way he can escape just as the rush is getting there. Two years ago in the Rams game the snap over his head, I was screaming for him to fall on the ball. To get out of bounds. Finally because he got the first down. He amazes me at times. I can't help but root for him. He's such a genuincely good guy too that I will admit the criticism of him bothers me more than I should let it. I think much of it is stupid and that is why I react to it.

I can't get enough of Marion Barber. He plays football the way I want it to be played. I wish every player on the team went as hard as him on every play. I can't take my eyes off of him when he has the ball. You never know when he is simply going to decimate a would be tackler. Especially with a stiff arm. It is cool to me how he is a quiet man too. No media darling. No drama queen. Just a blue collar guy bringing hsi lunch pail and coming to work and giving us all he has. Love the guy.

Jason Witten is the epitome of a guy who will lay it on the line for the team. As a rookie he broke his jaw and had to get it wired shut. He missed one game. Against the Eagles 2 years ago he got his helmet knocked off and he rumbled another 40 yards without it. He is the best TE in the NFL and one of the best guys on the team. I admire him like I have admired very few players.

DeMarcus Ware is walking astonishment for me. Not only is he a genuine good guy, but he is the best Defensive player in the NFL and the most disruptive force Offenses have to deal with. I will never forget him snatching the Vick pass out of the air and scoring with it. Or reading a screen pass and stopping pursuit of a QB at full speed and getting to the RB as soon as the ball does. I wish he wouldn't get the encorachment penalties that we all know he isn't guilty of. He's so fast he is sudden and is so far ahead of other players the refs think he must be off sides.

Jay Ratliff was a late round Draft pick. All he did was come to work and take over a job. Then when we lost our NT he moved to that position and became a Pro Bowler at it. His motor runs non stop and he goes about his life with class.

Bradie James was one of our most targeted for criticism players just a few years ago. Now he is clearly one of the absolute best. This on top of being a great guy. Last year he developed into arguably one of the best ILBs in the entire NFL and easily the most dangerous one on a pass rush.

These are just a handful of guys. All of them have great character. All of them produce at high levels. All of them are team oriented and Cowboys in the best sense of the word. I could have mentioned several more players too.

Terence Newman, Martellus Bennett, Tashard Choice, Andre Guorde, Miles Austin, Felix Jones, Orlando Scandrick, Marcus Spears, Matt McBriar, Nick Folk, and still more are all quality guys and good football players and weapons for this team. We got some rookies who can be added to this list some day.

We've even added some quality Free Agents to the mix. Guys likeRoy Williams, Leonard Davis, and Igor Olshansky. Check out the youtube series on Olshansky. If it doesn't impress you with what a good guy he is, then I don't know what will. I don't know how anyone can not like Marc Columbo.

Great bunch of guys.

I feel the same way, that 05 class just solidified a good group of people.

Unfortunately, The national media and the lousy local media will cover this team as if they are the bad news bears or a prison inmate team. All because of the knuckleheads of the past.

This new group of guys feels like they are another wave of good guys. I think it is great what good people we have. Someday hopefully we will win big with this group and then the media would be forced to talk about the quality of people this roster has. Witten,Ware, James and newman are charity machines. They are just good guys, I am happy to buy tickets and watch them play win or lose.

On one hand Romo is a real find. We suffered for years trying to get someone worthy under center. I understand that. I appreciate that.

On the hand, Romo is on the fence as to where he may stand in Cowboys history.

Of course, I want him to choose his path "wisely" ;)

Very worthwhile and needed post, theebs. I have great admiration for Aikman and Staubach, and for Dandy Don and Danny White, too, but I expect Romo to be considered greater than any of them when his time is over. None of them escaped censure by impatient fans.

Adolescents are impatient by nature. The Cowboys attract many young fans, and older ones who have never outgrown their anxieties.

Romo is the best thing that has happened to the Cowboys in a long, long time, an unexpected Christmas gift. Sometimes, regrettably, kids are unable to appreciate the value of gifts they get until after they've grown up.

I love Ware. Ware is the best defensive player in the NFL. His jersey is the only one I own.

But in terms of value to the team...

Romo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ware

With a fully healthy Romo we went 13-3. Without a fully healthy Romo we went 9-7.

Your post proves his point, not the other way around.
