It seems recently lots of people have been comparing current games to past games.

This game reminds a little bit of the Giants v. Patriots at the end of the 2007 season. The Patriots won to go 16-0 and the Giants lost in a close game, but showed they could go toe to toe with the great Patriots team for four quarters. That game seemed to make the Giants even more confident and of course they ended up beating the Patriots in the super bowl.

I realize the context is a little different as that was the last game of the year and the Patriots were going 16-0, but I could see similar things happening here. If the Cowboys can keep grinding away they can get to a point where the games mean something. Dallas showed a dominant offense particularly down the field throwing. If Miles comes back our three wr sets are downright scary. The season really hinges on our defense perfecting the Kiffin scheme. Although the defense is disappointing now, I could expect to see some improvement as the season goes along.

I agree with some of your points, but the giants game was late in the season and they knew they were in the playoffs already. This season is still young, but I get what you're saying.

Right. It is a little different. Hopefully it has the same impact.

One can only hope. It looks like we may have to play some pretty good offense this year with the way the defense looked. They are capable but consistency is key. (Duh)

It reminded me of Pittsburgh last year, atmosphere and everything. Even though that game was in the heart of a playoff run, you'd be lying if you said today's game didn't feel like one with implications

I don't want miles back. I'd rather see Williams and Beasley. Win or lose lets cut the dead weight. Cut all these oft injured guys and roll w the healthy and hungry guys

This game reminds me more of the Dolphins-Jets game from 1986.

51-45 Jets win in OT, with Ken O'Brien outdueling Dan Marino.

How come people always pick favorable comparator games?

What about the hundreds of other games where a team plays awesomely and still gets beaten......and doesn't go on to win the Superbowl.

Cowboys losing in historic fashion thanks to a last minute soul crushing brainfart?

Yeah, it reminds me of some games too.

I agree with the OP. This game should give this team alot of confidence. They were is this game to the very end when no one gave them a chance. They now know they can play with any team in the league. I have been a critic of this team and their mediocre past but I now believe the "buy in" is there and when this team figures out Kiffin's scheme they will be scary.
