Replacement Refs thread ***Merged***

Man, I just saw the hit on Heyward-Bay and that was vicious. He was clearly hit in the chin by the Steelers helmet and that's what knocked him out before he hit the ground. How was that call even missed? It was the same thing we saw last week against Lee.

NFL is using its logo as toilet paper.

Yeah I'm sure this has been discussed to death and after week 1, I did not really hold a strong opinion on them. After 2 more weeks and this Ravens/Pats game, this is just horrible. Look, bad calls happen. They are human. But they have no control and authority on the game. They also are not used to the speed of the game and hell, sometimes do not even know the most basic rules. I was at our game today in person and you could tell they look confused on many calls. Completely blown calls as well and it took them a whole TV timeout to figure out the roughing the punter penalty is tacked on to the fumble for us

Cris Collinsworth said it best. "They are trying their best but just are not qualified to do this job" Al Michaels agrees.

These guys are terrible.

They just don't have any control of the game. Imagine the Steeler/Ravens game with replacement refs, it's gonna look like a WWE main event. Wouldn't be surprised to see a steel folding chair out on the field.

These Refs have been horrible!

New England v Baltimore was ridiculous

I can't believe the NFL is doing this to its fans, but its not hurting their cash flow at all so not too surprising.

The NFL should be ashamed

Tony Dungy just compared playing with the Replacement Refs to having an injured player. What a terrible analogy.

He's dumb. Just try and forgive him.

And Chris Collinsworth just implied the Replacement Refs actually improve the quality of the game. Are we in an alternate universe or something?

Somebody should send the NFL copies of the obituraries of football players killed in games over the years. It hasn't been many, but it has happened. Players today are so much bigger and faster that with unbridled violent shots to the head it could easily happen. And if it does happen, the money the NFL doesn't want to pay the real officials will seem like chickenfeed when the lawsuit hits. (I understand the "assumption-of-the-risk" legal concept in regards to pro football, but such gross incompetence by the replacement officials in regards to player safety probably constitutes negligence on the part of the NFL.)

Here was a hit in the Steeler Raider game that resulted in a player being taken off on a cart yet no penalty.

Yea if Heyward Bey plays again this year he'll be lucky. These refs are so much more inconsistent with calls than the regular guys its not even funny. They keep this up with the no calls on helmet to helmets somebody is gonna be paralyzed.
