Replacing Carpenter was a priority

They drafted Sean Lee, not just to replace Keith Brooking in a couple years, but to replace Carpenter this year.

This guy was a poor draft pick by Bill Parcells, and it showed in our nickel defense. An article spoke on our 7.6 YPC allowed on nickel vs the 3.6 YPC allowed in our base defense.

The article pointed out safety as an issue, but the concern lies more with the player who is coming in specifically on nickel situations... And thats Carpenter, and his inability to tackle.

If we can draft Wooton in the, he'll take the 4th DE spot, and we'll move Spears.

Our sub package will rely more on backups who should be primed to take larger roles in our defense.

Brandon Williams, Victor Butler, Jason Williams, and Sean Lee.

Only depth I still see missing is a replacement for Junior Siavii, and maybe that just isn't coming.

Heard Sean Lee say he played last year with a knee brace and he wont play with it this year.

Waiting for Carp apologists to step in and talk about how he's not a **** pick.

This guy is public enemy #2 and is damn lucky that Roy Williams took the heat last year.

Bust-o-rama.

I thought LT and Safety was a bigger priority but only time will tell...

I'm not absolutely sure we're replacing Carpenter this year.

Lee's starting out at the MLB position, Bradie James' spot in the base, which is not the spot Carp plays (but we do have Jason Williams for that spot). And we need two linebackers for the nickel.

I think what we do with Carpenter depends more on whether we think Williams is ready to step up as Brooking's primary backup than drafting Lee.

Of course, both picks at least show Carpenter shouldn't be looking for an extension or new contract when his time does run out.

Okay, so they called Bobby Carpenter - Barbie.

If Sean Lee fails, will they call him 'Sarah' Lee....?

I sure do hope he can play.

They obviously didn't think they could get what they wanted in the draft, and probably feel as though they can manage through free agency and what we have on the roster.

There's always a scapegoat in Dallas. I don't know who it is when Carp and Roy leave. Even Barber who was once a fan favorite and could do no wrong is becoming the scapegoat for whenever we lose.

drafting a highly rated player that far down in the draft was a priority.

Carp had nothing to do with it.

In your head, if Carp wasn't on this team and Lee was there we woudln't have drafted Lee.

That's ridiculous.

At least the other crap you try to stir up is full of meaningless stats.

Four, you love to assume things...

Look at WR, and Dez Bryant. WR wasn't a glaring need, but we picked him up BPA.

That said ILB, was a need many journalist thought we needed to address.

I actually really like the pick of Lee. I don't care if it was to replace Bobby or not. He'll be an excellent replacement for Brooking when he retires.

Whoever doesn't produce. Simple as that. You think other fans let their lackeys just get a free pass.

If you are a high pick or high paid player, you need to hold your own. If not, you get the stones.

What does that even mean? Is that a euphemism?

Imagine that, getting good depth on linebackers in a 3-4.

Lee was drafted to be a starter. Might be a year away, but he's here to replace James or Brooking. If he replaces Carpenter, that's incidental to why they wanted him.
