This is something that needs to be done and I don't see a lot of discussion about it.

I like the talent of the Green player from Florida but he was often hurt in College and he hasn't got off to a good start in the NFL as far as health goes.

Are there any Right Tackle prospects you guys see in this draft class that you like that are mid rounders?

I'm sure with one of the comp picks you will see another OL picked this year.

due to Garrett's loyalty to vet. players, I see Free starting in 2016......sadly.

If that is the case then i'd hope we sign back Ron Leary so that way we could bump Martin or Collins out to RT whenever Doug Free finally flops.

Free has been the starting RT for how many years?
And they try to replace him, or find his heir apparent every year, and the swing tackle guy.
It hasn't happened, so maybe Free is not as bad as people on here think he is....that will get some comments...LOL...

Yes, I agree, and can understand, they need to do better. But Parnell could not take over, Weems failed too. I wanted no part of either of them two. I just did not see it. Though Parnell was a decent backup.
Jury is still out on Green. I did not like using a 3rd on him though.

I can see 2 OL taken in this draft, depending on Leary though too. An OT and an OG / C type, to replace Bernadeau and / Leary. At least if they tender Leary we can get a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick.

Dallas invested a 3rd on Chaz Green so I don't suspect they use any premium picks on RT. I think they let Green have the opportunity to win the job and at the least be the swing tackle.

Hopefully they tender Leary with a 2nd round tender and some team wanting a starting caliber G spends to take him away. That way...in 2017 that extra 2nd could be used on a Tackle should Green not suffice and Free is too old or too inept to be the starter any longer. This scenario is not too bad .

Would we get the pick in 2017, or does that go to the 2016 draft?
Since FA would end before the draft. I am not sure how that works, or how long the tendered offers stay on the table.
Yes, good scenario.

It actually would be for the upcoming draft or 2016 should they tender Leary at the 2nd round tender and another team grabs him.

Thats's that I see. I've been one of Free's biggest critics but he did play well late in the season and there aren't many external options. I think they roll this way -

2016 - Resign Leary, Start Free, Green is the swing tackle who probably gets significant reps at RT and more if Free gets injured (high likelihood).

2017 - Green or Collins starts at RT, Leary is the LG if Collins moves to RT.

Free is the RT next year.

CGreen will have to have a great summer to even be the swing OT.

I'll admit I LOL'ed.

With the 3rd round pick used on Green, I agree he should be the Swing Tackle/backup right tackle going into next season. By not putting him on I.R. the coaches have had him practicing for the last 3rd of the season I think. They should have an idea what they have in him, and should have given him a list of things to improve on over the off-season. As they do with all the players.
I would expect a late round tackle taken, or who knows if the coaches like what we have on the PS. (We only have so many picks to go round come draft time). To me, Collins has found his home at RG and should not be moved, just like Martin at LG.
In a perfect world, Free plays out this next year, with Green getting reps and ready to move in as RT the following year. Then our line is set (Barring injury and backups). I would give Leary as a 2nd round tender, if some team bites, great we get the comp. the following year. If no-one does, he would be a great one year insurance policy at guard.
See, simple - what could go wrong .....

With Collins ability to get out front and get to the second level would love to see him at RT. Big mauler that is a bull dozer but faster

I don't know about that. You're asking him to spend most of his time going backwards if you put him at tackle. I think that really negates his strength. Leave him at guard.

If we want a RT then I say go get one. Was just throwing it out there about Collins. I think he works well with Smith and Fred.

Can't remember but I think it said we run better to the left then to the right. Is there a RT you think we could get in the draft or would you rather see how Green does?

I won't be upset with one more year with Free at RT however I'm hoping Green really shows improvement over the offseason to give him some real competition!

We should start the top 5 lineman, Lael is a good guard, but leary starting at guard is better than starting free at tackle, to many needs to get a rt early in the draft

This might be a good year to target a strong candidate at g/c, say round four. They'll see what they have at tackle, or possibly target one more late for this year.

I don't see why we won't sign Leary to a 2nd round tender when we have the cap space. I'll even ask Leary to try his hand at C.

Honestly, Free is least of my concerns right now. We got plenty of holes to plug on both sides. I am hoping Green will develop and eventually take over.
