Replacing Free

Free is getting older and who can forget that he has had ups and downs. parnell's play over the next few weeks will tell the tale for him.

We need a CB to replace either Mo or Carr; and our pick will probably be in the 20's. So we can get a good CB there.

Unfortunately pass rushings DE's go real fast in the draft and the best bets will be long gone before we draft.

Call me crazy but I would just go with Parnell if something doesn't just fall in our lap.

I think Parnell will show us this month that he can be a NFL starter.

It should be noted that the 49ers did this too, and before we did, but I don't think they had the level of success we've had, which is why the NFL hasn't really bent to them.

San Francisco has been pretty successful the past 3 years.

The money isn't there to sign free agents. We need to re-sign our own guys, which will be difficult enough as it is.

Depending on a couple decisions Dallas could easily be 35-40m under the cap next year.

They would have to replace Carr(Claiborne/Moore), Melton(Crawford) and Free(Parnell). CHEAP

They need to sign Dez and Murray. EXPENSIVE

They should sign Carter, RoMcClain, Spencer MID-LEVEL, maybe Beasley, Harris and Durant CHEAP

Sign RFA's Moore and Leary. CHEAP

Draft BPA and sign a couple FAs

The money will be there to get everyone they want signed. No need for a big splurge in FA, but a couple bargains can be had. Backup CB, FS, DT and OG.

When I say signing or re-signing free agents, the re-sign part indicates the Cowboys own free agents. if they did lose some free agents or cut a player like Carr, then they could be in the situation of needed to sign a free agent.

And that's what I said, you can't necessarily replace all these guys with free agents, and that's what you need to do in the draft.

we will know about Parnell in the next 2 games but if you want a immediate starter in the draft then you have to draft them high.

The salary cap is a big unknown at this point with new TV contracts. It's really difficult to know what they can or can't do at this point.

I expect them to lose some guys where they have multiple free agents at the same position like Carter, Durant and RoMc or Free/Parnell, but in general they're likely to keep most starters even if they have to push significant money into the future.

I think a lot of people believe they won't resign all the linebackers. I believe they actually will. They've seen the injuries they go through at linebacker, and they'll want to keep 4 who understand the system. It shouldn't be too difficult to get them all.

I'm not saying we won't be able to sign our own free agents, but being players in free agency? I really doubt that's going to be possible. I would love to be wrong though.

Money wise they might be willing to pay good money for a backup, but if they sign 2 of RoMc, Durant and Carter, then the 3rd one might be reluctant to sign with the Cowboys.

For most free agents the Cowboys have, they have to consider other free agent options. If Murray is too expensive, then plan B might be another FA. If they continue to win, their own free agents will get more expensive than some other free agents that might have similar talent.

I don't think there will be that reluctance. There will be a competition, and the best guys will be on the field, but that 4th guy will still play plenty.

I think we'll be fine signing our own guys, and that should be our focus. Signing our own guys in 2015 will be the cornerstone of this dynasty, that combined with a strong draft, will set us up going forward.

That season Kaepernick only started 7 games

And he still ran for 415 yards...

And they were largely a good team in 2011.

This team went from one of the worst running teams in the nfl to one of the best, are 7-1, and are helping to set rushing records...

All this plays into why the 49ers didnt get the same press for their oline.

Keep your powder dry, hotshot, things will change between now and the end of the season that will affect the team's decisions on personnel,,,

It will be difficult to keep both Durant and Carter assuming that they keep RoMc. Both wiil cost a few million per year, I think.

I don't see both Parnell and Free staying.

My guess is that Carter and Free are not re-signed and possibly not Murray. I don't see Melton returning. Everybody else should return, IMO. I'm not sure that they will cut Carr even though 8M is a lot.

Carr has no chance of staying.

Please find me a linebacker with similar resume to Carter who is making the kind of money you think he'll make. I don't see it. I think he'll get maybe 2 million per year with some incentives in there. Durant, I don't think will break the bank either. He won't get much more than his previous contract. We can afford them.
