In addition to the Cowboys, the Bears and Lions reportedly have interest in Chris Simms.

Neither Chicago nor Detroit runs a strict West Coast offense like the one Jon Gruden uses in Tampa Bay, but both can use QB help and the Bucs' asking price couldn't be too high. Simms is currently fifth on the depth chart. At some point you've got to wonder what's taken so long for the Bucs to move on. Jul. 13 - 10:21 am et

Simms will be free to go anywhere very soon
They have to do something with him by July 26th.

A guy who is a reporter in Tampa let me know a few weeks back that he was going to be released if they couldn't find a trade partner. He speculated Miami, but I couldn't even fathom why he'd say that.

I think the Bears or Vikings. I do not mind the thought of him here at all, but I would not trade for him as has been speculated in recent articles with Glenn going to Tampa for him.

If he signs with the Bears, Lions or Vikings as opposed to coming here to be a backup for Tony it is not that huge a loss. Even if we're going to release Glenn I wouldn't make that trade. I guess I'm stubborn.

Plus I kind of want Glenn to sign the injury waiver and stay on.

Simms has a shot at starting both those places which pretty much means we're out of the picture since he'd never be more then a backup here

Not if we do make the trade. Then he has no control over it.

If he was worth trading for he probably wouldn't be sitting 5th on the Bucks depth chart

Sometimes it is about a clash with the coach and not ability.

dont expect him to come here then if he has a chance to start there or back up here I think he will chose to start.

Maybe it's me, but Simms seems to be missing that certain "it" that winning QBs have. He will always be that Brian Griese type of QB that does just enough to lurk around as that back-up with "starting potential". But, if you put him on the field for a long time he will show some good stuff early and be exposed as teams adjust to him.

It's not just you.

Several of us feel that way. Something's missing.

He might be a decent backup, but that's about it, IMO.

He looked pretty darn good the season he got hurt. Was really playing well and it was only his third season, so.....

I think this guy will turn out to be a steal and teams like the Lions, Vikings, and Falcons should be doing what they can to get him.
