Report: Bills contact Mike Shanahan
Posted by Michael David Smith on November 18, 2009 3:35 PM ET
The Buffalo Bills have named defensive coordinator Perry Fewell the interim replacement for fired head coach **** Jauron. But they might be looking for a long-term replacement who will make a big splash.
Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the Bills have contacted Mike Shanahan to gauge Shanahan's interest in becoming their next head coach.
ESPN also reports that the process is underway of arranging a meeting between Shanahan and the Bills.
Shanahan, who won two Super Bowls as the head coach of the Denver Broncos, would presumably want complete control of all football decisions. Given that the Bills are likely looking at a front-office shakeup in addition to a new head coach, that probably wouldn't be a problem for Bills owner Ralph Wilson.
Shanahan was fired early this year after coaching the Broncos from 1995 to 2008.
