Before we played the Seahawks they asked Pete Carol what he thought of our defense since we added Richard and he said it looked like the CBs were playing better. I don't know if he was responsible but it seemed like we blitzed better after he arrived.

The secondary was a night & day type difference from 2017 to 2018 with regards to studying the coaches film. The difference in coaching was obvious. They had a coordinated plan with KR in 2018.

Often it is difficult to distinguish which changes from players and which are from coaching changes but the difference in coaching of the DBs from 2017 to 2018 was very obvious.

That does not always mean the results improved by the same amount because players change and other factors like the pass rush affect results but on the coaches film it was very obvious.

Unfortunately for KR in 2019 he tried to drive the defense from the passenger seat after the driver fell asleep.

He tried to stop the run at the expense of pass coverage and tried to make changes from on the fly (week to week) at the expense of players knowing their assignments.

If this team were to win a super bowl, you'd find a way to hate it as well.
Hey, it takes a lot of creativity for Risen to provide us with his insights day after day. All of that and you don’t even have to pay for it.

Nice addition, now if we could just replace Kellen Moore to complete a full reboot,,..

Incredible. This makes me feel way more confident about the defense. Not a fan of the Nolan hire--if we had hired Edwards as DC, I'd have been happy. Exciting to see him on the team.

agree.

Good hire.

but don’t put him on LBs and waste him.

let him call the defense during game day.

The defensive stats were good in 2019.

but teams figured out Marinellis scheme.

and the Jets game was a nightmare.

KR wasn’t the DC.

that was not the SHawks defense we saw in 2019.

that was Rods BBDB scheme dying.

I like the big coaching staff, more brains to analyze and come up with what is working what needs to be changed, instead of running the same playbook from Training camp.

All these coaches add up to 2 more wins in close games, trip to SB, worth it
