Widely regarded as the biggest draft bust in NFL history, former Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell might get a chance to re-write that legacy.

Multiple teams are interested in the 2007 No. 1 overall draft pick, according to a CBSSports.com report, which cited an NFC scout.

"I've been following his comeback story pretty closely. I think a lot of teams are. Good chance he gets a second shot."

Russell began his comeback attempt at 315 pounds. Tuesday, in what he called the half-way mark of his training camp, he weighed in at 288 pounds. The 27-year old still has 18 pounds to shed before he reaches his goal of 270.

In a year when the NFL Draft offers a relatively shallow pool of quarterbacks, Russell's comeback attempt is well timed.

The three-year NFL veteran completed 354 of 680 pass attempts (.521) for 18 touchdowns and 23 interceptions with the Raiders before he was released May 6, 2010.

Nothing wrong with looking at the guy. I've always thought he should try TE.

He isn't athletic enough to be a tight end. And he is too far along in life to learn the nuances of the position to overcome any athletic shortcomings.

If, and that's a huge if, he can catch on with a team as a 3rd QB, then he should be grateful.

How desperate (or arrogantly self confident) do you have to be to sign Jamarcus? Guess we'll see.

People should keep things like this in mind when they're complaining about Tony Romo. There are multiple teams considering JaMarcus Russell because they need a quarterback that badly. JaMarcus "Purple Drank" Russell still gets interest because finding someone who can be a decent quarterback is that difficult.

The guy hasn't done anything to deserve a second chance.

Well, I doubt he can run well right now but at 265-270 he was a handful. He's got some lateral movement, very good quickness for someone his size, and runs in the 4.7s-4.8s which is certainly not real fast but pretty good for a TE. I have no idea if he can block but running routes is a lot repetition and memory work as well as making the right reads. I have no idea if he could really convert and I doubt many if any do but he's got the size and speed of a TE. Unless he puts on a lot of muscle and gets to 310-325 then he can't play OT. That's about exhausts the options for him. I don't see him as an interior lineman.

I'd think Jacksonville, Cleveland, Buffalo,Arizone would be interested in him as a backup.

Pure speculation on my part. It'd have to be vet minimum, with very little guaranteed.

He has great size for a tight end, but I don't think he moves that well. He ran the ball 139 times at LSU and only gained 79 yards.

At 6-5.5 he ran about 4.8 back in 2007. Who knows what he can do now after he has abused his body with excessive weight and lack of exercise.

I suspect his only shot is if he can somehow comeback as a backup QB somewhere. He did have some talent throwing the ball so I think there is potential he can try to win a backup job somewhere and then work on his skills with the hopes of getting a shot to start somewhere else in the league later on.

I think the odds are way against him as it is tough to suddenly gain a work ethic when you got by all your life on God-given talent. Nevertheless, I wish him well as it takes a lot of courage to do what he is trying.

You mean courage trying to get another paycheck?

Courage to come back after being ridiculed and humiliated on the public stage. Most people would just give up. I am a believer in trying to do the best you can in life and maybe he wants to re-dedicate himself and become a top player. I think it is highly improbable but commend him for his attempt.

or he is looking for more easy money then actually admitting what pretty much everyone knows which is that he is the biggest bust of all time
