Report: Hue Jackson heading to Raiders
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 26, 2010 9:40 AM ET
Tom Cable is expected to stay in Oakland, but his role with the team is about to change.
ESPN's Michael Smith reports that Ravens quarterbacks coach Hue Jackson has accepted a position with the Raiders to be their next offensive coordinator.
Jackson met with Al Davis last week, and likely convinced him he can help JaMarcus Russell improve. It's unclear at this stage whether Jackson will call plays, a role Cable had last year. The Raider say no decision has officially been made yet on Cable's future.
With that said, it appears Davis is building a staff for Cable. Jackson worked with Cable in 1990 at Cal State Fullerton and then at Cal in 1996. New defensive line coach Mike Waufle also worked on Steve Mariucci's Cal staff in '96.
UPDATE: Jackson has canceled his interview with the Bears.
