NFL coaching rumors just wouldn’t be the same without Jon Gruden’s name in the mix.

The former Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach traded in his coaching headset for his current gig on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” broadcasts back in 2009 but, according to one report, he might be itching for a return to the sideline.

Gruden has informed Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeff Lurie that he is interested in taking over as the team’s coach, a source told Paul Domowitch of the Philadelphia Daily News. However, the same source says Lurie is worried about what Gruden’s relationship with Eagles vice president of football operations Howie Roseman would look like. For his part, Gruden has said he can work with Roseman, according to Domowitch.

The thing that makes me question this is their QB situation, it isnt good. I would think Gruden would want to walk into a better QB situation. Of course he did win a SB with the noodle arm of Brad Johnson.

Wait, he would grab Lovie as his first move right? hmm this could be pretty good for the Eagles.

This seems really farfetched. I don't think Jon would want to matchup against his brother twice a year either.

Don't buy it. I don't think he wants to coach again. He's said that over and over.

If true, I guess he would only come back if he can have the same type of control Chip had with Philly.

Would be a good hire by Philly honestly but I don't see why he'd go there. Their roster is depleted of talent and their QB situation is in flux. Just a messy situation for any HC to adopt.

So if this happens I guess watching MNF will be enjoyable once again, opps forgot about Tirico still being there.

I actually think MNF and CBS have the best announcers in football. I love Gruden----most analysis seem bias in some way but Gruden just loves everybody. I would be sad to see him leave the booth. He is much better at his job than Aikman or Collinsworth. Joe Buck and Collinsworth are the worst announcers in sports imo.
