By spending half the money he made on on this contract on a single house? We aren't talking about a guy who is living paycheck to paycheck. That is an enormous sum of money for a house. His monthly utilities are going to be $150k.

This house is for someone like Mark Cuban who has a net wealth over one billion dollars. His utilities over the next five years are going to run $9M.

For a man that will probably have a 12-16 year career, that is a stupid purchase. At least Tiger Woods can play golf until he is in his 60s.

From what I've heard, he pays for a huge entourage that follows him around everywhere he goes. Then spending $50M of a $90M contract on a single house doesn't so very bright either. Especially at $3M a year for taxes and another $1.8M a year in utilities. (said it was $150k a month for them)

If his contract is 6 years $90M (not sure what is actually is) the house will cost him close to $80M over that same contract period. Thats 90%+ of his contract's value. More if he keeps the house.

Even if he itemizes the property taxes, that's a lot of money walking out the door he'll not recoup not to mention $1.8 million a year in utilities.

I wonder how much the HOA dues are? Those are not deductible. Some HOA's base your dues on the appraised value of the home, others by the property size, and others just by a flat fee. Usually upper scale neighborhoods run off of appraised property values.
