Tony Romo is ever closer to returning to the throne for the Dallas Cowboys.
It has now been six weeks since the franchise signal-caller went down in the third preseason game vs. the Seahawks, suffering a compression fracture in his L1 veterbra. He's now progressing ahead of rehab schedule and has recently began throwing again as well, with offensive coordinator Scott Linehan saying he looks very 'comfortable'.
It's now being reported Romo's recent MRI shows great news for the QB:

I bet he plays after the bye vs Eagles. good chance we will be 3-3. Eagles could be 5-1. would be a "must win" type of game

Great news, but the MRI doesn't tell us how long will that vertebra last, and in which game will it break again.:D

People seem to think MRI means he's back to 2014
I wouldn't expect him to be at that level yet, or possibly ever again. But if he's even at 80% of that, with his knowledge & experience, the playbook would be completely open again. And worst case scenario, if it looks like he's not ready then we go right back to Dak.

No MRI only tells us the injury is healing. How he plays is something he has to prove. Currently he is back throwing the ball and should be getting a lot more work pretty soon. How he responds to that and how he looks will help the staff determine when or if to put him back in the lineup. Once there Romo will need to produce simple as that.

This is fantastic if true. Can't wait to have a healthy Romo back, continuity be damned.

Dak's time will come soon enough, but this is still Tony's team.

It's time to put the beatdown on some teams, circa 2014. Folks think this offense looks good with Dak? Wait until they get a load of this offense with Romo back in there. Unstoppable.

I'm calling it right now; if Romo plays against the eagles, he WILL get injured again.

By all accounts from practice he was already back to 2014 and better in the preseason practices and camps.
It remains to be seen if that holds up after the Seattle game fiasco.

Play him and if he doesn't reinjure himself and plays well, who knows, maybe some desperate team wants a vet qb right now who can help. Injuries will happen for other qbs. If not, he stays and we eat his contract.

Wait till they don't just have to stack the box to beat us. Can't wait to see elliott without 9 in the box

we've been thru this before. dejavu.

Big difference between this year and last year is Dak. Last year he would have been back last week. This year because we have a QB who can get wins he can wait until fully healed.

Well, of course, this is good news but to be candid, we've heard this story before only to witness something devastating. Sorry to cast a shadow on such positive information since it seemingly bodes well for his eventual comeback.

I'll be withholding my celebratory delight for the time being in the hope that the hits that are bound to come won't find him returning to the same role that he holds at present. Perish the thought, right? Anyhow, I imagine he'll be returning in a couple of weeks or so.

When that time comes, I'll definitely be crossing my fingers and holding my breath with the rest of you each time he fades back to pass. May our excellent OL bless him with their best protection and may a favorable wind be constantly at his back. ;)
