I assume he's gone by the second rd and wouldn't want to spend 27 on him.
He would be a good fit though.

This guy is like a poor mans OBJ,obviously he cant run the whole route tree right now but he has all the tools imo.these lighting quick 6 footers are going to put up monsters numbers in todays NFL because of the illegal contact rules.

A possible look at our 60th pick. The one WR, iirc, that we were bringing in on a visit.

I really like the player but it would take an injury of some sort for him to be a factor on offense.

If we are looking at a speed WR I would rather take Conley from Georgia a round later

Possibly 2-3 rounds later...and I agree, value-wise

Smith projecting 1st or 2nd at latest
Conley projecting late 3rd earliest, late 5th latest

He would start by year 2 at the latest is my guess.

I guess he could beat out TWILL in year 2. But in the 1st or 2nd round, that pick would be better spent elsewhere. Smith would have to be far and away the BPA for it to make sense on this roster.

Or maybe you take Smith early if you don't plan to give Dez a long term contract??

Yeah, I agree

There's no scenario where I'd take him the 1st
The 2nd gets more iffy b/c the chance that he's BPA enters the discussion.
Even then, with this deep WR class, I see no need to take him that early

Good point. Or a team signs Dez to a crazy offer sheet.

Or the team knows something about Dez or Twill that we don't.

Think they're looking at Smith as a possible replacement for Harris...that also adds a legit deep threat.

Harris led the Boys in special teams tackles in 2014. Smith was among the best gunners in college football, and with his speed, could be a potentially dangerous return man as well.

I agree about Conley.

In terms of special teams, they've also looked at Ty Montgomery...who was among both the best kick and punt returners in college.

I personally like Kenny Bell quite a bit. He could possibly help replace Harris in several facets. He returned kicks...played on coverage units...is one of the better blocking WR's...has played outside & inside...adds more speed & big play potential, and can also run the reverses etc.

Devin Smith has a lot of comparisons, but interestingly enough Bucky Brooks compares him to Terrance Williams. I think Smith brings more to the table wouldn't be surprised at all if he sneaks into the end of round one or maybe a little higher...

I am beginning to like this guy more and more as the draft approaches, he has a similar game to OBJ and will blossom with better QB play .

Half this board would freak out if the first two picks were a RB and WR.
