I am serious here. I know many people will probably think I am crazy here, but that is ok. I don't know if there has ever been a request like this, but Pro Football Talk should not be allowed on this board IMO.

It is pure garbage and offers nothing.

Now I understand it is a so called media source, but actually it is not.

FACT: PFT has no sources
FACT: PFT just makes things up

What is the difference between this, and somebody who comes on this board and posts bullcrap rumors with no source, which is a violation of our rules?

Why because they have their own website? Because they are a main source of getting false rumors flowing all over the web?

For years now I have seen them writing things, and yet have I seen one thing to be true.

The exception is what they post on their website that is already on this board from KFFL, ESPN, etc..

Now I know I dont have to read it, and that is cool. And it is not that big of a deal here, but I just don't understand the difference between PFT, and someone who breaks the forum guidelines in posting false rumors with no links.

There is no difference.

If you ban PFT then you have to ban anything by John Clayton too. Clayton is wrong about as often as anyone in sports reporting. Where do you draw the line?

Just because PFT says stuff that we may not want to hear (in some cases they are wrong; in some cases some here are just in denial) does not mean they should be banned. We all know about PFT's credibility or lack thereof and should know to take it with a grain of salt. But they are right often enough (as often as Clayton for instance) that they cannot be dismissed out of hand.

They hit and miss.

But one thing is for sure.

They hate Terrell Owens, and hate the Cowboys too.

It has nothing to do with the Cowboys, or who they like or hate, i just do not see the difference between what they write and what somebody comes here and makes stuff up.

Some of the stuff they write is hilarious. They usually hit on a 50-50 margin. They were the first to go on record by saying Culpepper would be traded. They also stated that Benson would be taken by Chicago over Cadillac Williams, and they were right.

Good writers make stories out of nothing. Great writers make nothing out of stories. :D :D

I for one think this request is stupid. PTF is a site that you can take or leave. They DO break stories with increasing regularity.

To disregard the entire site as crap is just as stupid as believing everything they say. Take it as it is, a fun read.

Pro Football Talk is not the media. It's a guy who runs a web site. He has no editors or no one to answer to. He just puts rumors out there but it's not the media. If a beat guy did what Pro Football Talk did, he would get thrown off the beat because for a newspaper, if you have a rumor, you have to pass it by an editor and confirm that you have a source. After 50 times of being wrong, you would probably be looking for another job.

Also, I may be mistaken, but I think they were the first to report that Quincy Carter was released.

Information is information, just tell me where it came from. This site has a lot of bandwidth, so I'll be the judge of what I read.
