Hey all CowboysZone members ,

I really think we should have like a "Multimedia" forum or something. For our videos... Any thoughts?

That would be great...I know other forums have their own video centers. It would help me since I don't have much web space...I have plenty of bandwidth, but no space. I keep having to shell out more and more money just to host my own videos.

I'm not crazy about torrents for things like this because they are things you want to stay up forever. Basically once the novelty wears off people would forget about seeding them and then we'd be right back to square one IMO. I'd love to have a forum dedicated to multimedia so people would know where to look to find vids and soundbytes, rather than asking the forum. Those posts often get lost during the season because thre is so much traffic and they get pushed off the front page rather quickly.

We have considered that in the past and will do so again. Thanks for the suggestion.

Newsgroups is another option, unlike P2P all it takes is for one person to upload the file, then it's available 24/7 for whomever wants it. And they'll be downloading at the speed of their ISP, not the uploaders.

Depending on the retention rate of the provider you should have between 25-45 days, i.e. if I post a video today 7/23 then you should be able to download it anytime up until between Aug 17th and Sept 6th. Most ISPs provide a free newsgroup account (But some including cable ISPs) put a limit on how much you can download.

I'm in the process of creating a how-to since several people PM'd me confused about how newsgroups worked. Once I complete it I'll have it as a sig.

Newsgroups are actually a very good option because our files aren't too big. Generally I only have problems when file sizes are measured in gigs and split up. With our relatively small 50 - 75 meg files, a newsgroup would be a very good way to go about it. But we couldn't use a group like alt.sports.football.pro.dallas-cowboys because they frown on posting binaries. We could probably start our own newsgroup, god knows people create newsgroups left and right for no real reason.

Newsgroups doesn't work for me. :( ... But just a thought for my torrents idea. If there are no seeders... just request a re-seed & it'll all be good.

I am of the opinion that it would be an excellent idea.

Me thinks you guys should consider it very hard.

Thank you for considering my input.
