Cap is not busted even with Dak's contract. Many ways to get the salary cap to 35 to 45 in money. Cap Boy wants you guys to believe this Cap FALSEhood...
paying the players that have been for a while and have caused us to get to the superbowl are more important players who can help you WIN the superbowl

So the best way to deal with this is try extending them early if they deserve it but not at max deals. Unless they are the absolute best at their position or a free agent can your teams charles haley then don't pay the max. You negotiate a year early to give yourself time to shop the agent in trade if a good deal can not be reached. Not every good player can make max money. Sometimes you get more from signing multiple guys like gilmore and hankins that are good and won't prevent you from signing or drafting other players.
jerry likes overpaying, it draws attention !!!!!!!!!! people will talk about cowboys lol
And jerry admitted to both of those, likes overpaying and people talking cowboys!

Step back and look at the big picture- How does the team allocate its resources? Make a plan and stick to it. For example, a team might decide to devote its resources to the O-Line, D-Line, and QB. What does the team do when its star RB demands top-dollar? Does the team stick to its plan, or does it cave in to the demands of the player?

The only way to stay on plan is to either trade players that don't align, or let them walk. Dallas is afraid to trade. Consequently, the resource allocation becomes skewed. The team is not built the right way. Teams that draft well will ultimately not be able to retain every player. Make trades and continue to draft well. Draft picks are cheap (salary cap wise). That's how you beat the cap.

They have to rework Daks jacked up contract then.

Or just cut him.

Our cap is busted.

We still have time. March will be here soon though.
Besides having a poor GM, most teams would have also fired cap boy himself a long time ago too. Must be making idiotic contracts because as cheap as he is and still 14m over the cap is ridiculous. Tells you how bad of a job he is doing.

Zero chance of that happening. The myth floating around this place has been the Cowboys can save $31 or 34 million by cutting him June 1st.

That's not how it works. People need to read the fine print on the voided years of 25 and 26 - they only void if Dak is on the roster at the end of 24.

Guess what happens if he's not? Instead of voiding next year it becomes dead cap this year, so you're eating $60 million for a guy you just cut.

That's why cutting Dak in 2024 is a fantasy based on bad information. Don't believe me? It's on Spotrac, but you have to read the fine print.

They don’t have to pay his base or the roster bonus.

That’s 34 million.

Post June 1 cut = splitting the dead cap over two seasons.

Dak is not the problem. He is good enough to win a SB.

Our 2024 cap is negative 14 million.

Is that based on the 2023 numbers. or 2024 projections. As the 2024 cap has not been announced yet.
Just projections. From last I seen the 2024 projections put us under the cap by $25 million. However that was before Dak's reworked contract.

I hope it replaces the word "super" before everything AND we all stop beginning every dam sentence with the word "So"
I agree. He should throw in “ smashing” or “superb” once in while too.

I love hearing him slur.

First, everything starts with resigning Dak to a long term deal and restructure his cap hits. And for the cut Dak fantasys. And then? Destroy the good core we have with Trey Lance leading us to several Top Ten picks? We can't do better than him in short term. We highly likely can't do better than him in mid term. I rather take a 12-5 Dak over a MAYBE 12-5 Jack Doe in 4 to 5 years any day and twice on sunday's.

Tyron Smith:
Let him go, shift Tyler to Tackle and draft a guard, plus looking for one in FA.

Tony Pollard:
No way we should resign him when he wants more than 5 Million. Draft a back 4/5th round and look at the undrafted Rookies, plus FA for an experienced back to add with Vaughn, Dowdle and a Rookie back.

Stephon Gilmore:
It the money is right, a one year deal won't hurt, at least not for reasonable money.

Rico Dowdle:
He won't be expensive, and I like his effort. Let's see how he evolves.

Tyler Biadasz:
He's not good enough. Same like Tyron. Look at the draft and FA to replace him.

Resign:
- Dorrance Armstrong
- Jayron Kerse
- Jonathan Hawkins OR Neville Gallimore
- Trent Sieg
Same as Gilmore. For the right amount of money, I would like to see them back on the squad.

Let go:
- Jourdan Lewis
Injury History, not good for a late stringer
- Dante Fowler Jr.
I don't see him making the Edges better
- Noah Igbinoghene
Hee needs snaps to ever come close to his once thought potential. Not gonna happen in our backfield
- Chuma Edoga
We need better

We have those players here that are up for new contracts, which will cause the team to shell out big dollar amounts. With that said, it seems that there's that moment when said player doesn't play to expectations of the contract money, causing fans to be in uproar saying "why did we even sign him, WE OVERSPENT!" Why does this happen, I mean we can't have players on 1 year deals. I think we need to just go with the flow, and once the players contract is coming to an end, then that'll be a good time to discuss whether the player lived up to his contract and needs a new one or not!

We can all name some players in need of new deals, we WANT them to stay here, but as soon as they have a bad year, the negativity comes. Please give your thoughts on this, and opinions
resigning our players or re-signing our players? ;)
