Finally, Big Bill speaks. It is always good to know what he is thinking.

- I liked the way he answered the TO questions. Granted, Galloway didn't like it one bit, but I think he has an agenda to slam anything in support of Owens.

Hey, I didn't like the Owens signing myself. However, now that eh is here, I will give him my support and hope that he becomes a difference maker.

You just know that Dennis, Engle, and Hitzges are going to rail on Parcells come Monday.

- The explanation of the two TE sets was very informative. It appears that if Dallas gets the opportunity to draft a quality TE next year in the draft, they will grab another one.

- The reference of Skyler Green being fat was disappointing. However, I am not worried about it. If Spears whipped himself into shape last year, so can't Green.

- The way Parcells talked about Ireland, and the other coaches and scouts, was exhilerating. It really looks like Dallas found its Gil Brandt again. Hopefully, Jerry will do everything in his power to keep him.

- The response at the very end of the press conference on Jason Hatcher was great. "Hey, he's 6-6, 290, and runs a 4.75 40, what else do you need to know?"

- Nice to hear that Colombo is now the workout king. He took it over from Newman.

add that to the superlative he gave to Petitti and Kosier, and I can understand why Dallas didn't take an offensive lineman until the 7th round.

If the offensive line improves, then the sky is the limit as to how far the Cowboys can go.

- Skyler Green at 5-9, 195 lbs. is NOT fat; guess he's been chosen as Tuna's whipping-boy for this year's camp; Green will respond positively, I have no doubt...

- Hopefully JJ will give-up his GM title and award it to Ireland. $$$ AND the title of GM should keep Ireland w/ us. Let's hope JJ is able to give up the title.....

- Wow! I never heard of Hatcher until draft day. He wasn't listed as one of the "fast-riser" in any of the draft publications. "In Ireland we trust" on this one.....

listening to the press conference i still dont understand the draft for need v. bpa dilemma.

1.they thought hatcher was a good find so drafted him - so that is bpa maybe?

2. but carpenter and fasano and skyler were drafted because they gave them options that they wanted - so that is not bpa...it is draft for need....or desire..?

also, BP said he didnt care about TOs history..that is not what he looks for...then went on about b.carpenters upbringing and background ("discipline in that household..")....yes bill, you had to say that about owens, we know...but we know you do care about background.

I was against the TO signing. Having said that, from what I read TO had tons of "discipline in that household.." growing up as a kid.

I completely agree you can argue that Hatcher was the ONLY pick that was drafted as BPA. All of the explaining about the 2 TE formation and getting rid of the FB makes that a need pick not BPA. I don't care what they say about their draft board. If he was truly the BPA on their board they would have drafted him and said he's so good we are going to run 2 TE's because of it. Not the story we received on how we are planning on running two TE's in our offense this year and he will fit nicely.

He was listed as one of 18 sleepers in the Pro Football Weekly draft magazine, FWIW.

"A 6-5 285-pounder with verified 4.8 speed, Hatcher showed great strength at the point and has the size, arm length and natural strength that is in heavy demand in "30" fronts. Can be a 4-3 base end or five technique in a 3-4 defense."

Also, WR Miles Austin and DT Steve Williams, who I thought I saw the Cowboys signed or brought in, made the list.

Never mind about Dr. Death. My mistake, the Boys didn't sign him. I was sure I saw his name associated with Dallas, but he's not on any of the official lists.

Well when asked about his Olinemen, his response was akin to "I hope we will be ok there" I almost fell out of my chair laughing. We go out and get a damn ferrari body and engine and put bicycle wheels on the damn thing.

Way to go Parcells. I too hope we will be ok there. I will do you one better, I pray we are ok there.

How can these pple call themselves professionals when their need is on Olinemen and we go get a basketcase receiver instead. Great defense should mean we lose every game 3-0 instead of 28-0. Grrrr......I hate Parcells.

Was an Oklahoma Sooner if I remember correctly.

At least this Steve Williams went to a MORE RESPECTABLE football university. Northwest Missouri St.

You have to love Parcells and Bledsoe's no nonsense styles.

Parcells - "Look, TO will not catch 100 balls in our offense. He just has to understand that"

Bledsoe - "If he comes into the huddle talking trash, I'll just tell him to give me information that is useful for the next play"

Before stepping onto the field, Parcells and Bledsoe have both put TO on notice that the bs will not be tolerated. I think TO will respect that in both. I think he'll act like an adult because he's dealing with guys that act like adults. No "Chuncky Soup", puking on the sidelines in the SB bs from the QB. Just solid effort and leadership from coach and QB.

I could see that working to a point. If hes 'happy' that will work. If he goes 3 games with only 3 catches total, he may punch Bledsoe in the huddle next time he tell el dorado to shut up and give pertenent info only. I can see el dorado. "I got your pertenent info right here mo-fo!" then punches Bledsoe through the face mask. (wonders if the refs would call an un-neccessary roughness call on el dorado for punching out his own QB in a game - :lmao2:

This is an extremely edited down version since most of it has nothing to do with this discussion.......

The Dirty Dozen

By Frank Coyle, Special to Rivals.com

Every NFL club scouts the nation in hopes of landing the next great sleeper prospect.

The small college ranks have supplied many NFL Hall of Fame prospects over the past 50 years, with a litany of players like Walter Payton (Jackson State) and Doug Williams (Grambling). This year's class may produce only a few players in the top 100 picks, but as many as 20 could be selected over the seven rounds.

Here is a look at the top small college prospects for this year's draft with comments for the top 12 – a group we'll call the Dirty Dozen.

6. Jason Hatcher - DL – 6-6, 290 lbs. – Grambling St.
Big, athletic defensive lineman has drawn special attention despite his short career at the small-college level. During his final season, he was a dominant pass rusher at the Division I-AA level, earning first team All-Southwest Athletic Conference honors. He is a huge athlete with experience at tackle and end. He has the size and athleticism to play in either pro scheme. He combines power and speed to be an every-down defender as a pro. The patient club that grabs him could have an absolute steal late in the draft once he settles into their defense. He is ideally suited for the strong-side end spot.

Honestly, it's hard to believe Skyler is 5'9". I know, even the stat pages say he is, but from the footage I saw him of the kid looks smaller than Darren Sproles. Dude is tiny.

At that point Bledsoe would drop him like a bad habit. Bledsoe is not a wuss like McBaby.

Fox Sports listed Hatcher as one of the best third round picks. They had 3 picks listed as the best third round picks... I can't remember the other two, but Hatcher was one of them. I'll try to find the link...

New England apparently wanted Hatcher badly and word is that New Orleans was getting ready to pick him... and that's with a team that is as set at DE as we are. He's a good player and we took him where we had to if we wanted him on the Cowboys.

Ahhh... here's the link to the Fox sports best/worst of the draft.

They list Hatcher as one of the best third round picks.

"Dallas Cowboys: Jason Hatcher, DE, Grambling State: There's no such thing as too much depth on the defensive line, Part 2: Hatcher is a 280-pounder who registered 11 sacks in his senior season. He's still very raw, but he joins Marcus Spears, Greg Ellis, Chris Canty and others in a very deep defensive end rotation in Dallas."

Here's the link:

Yeah - going to respectable universities to play football is well and good and all, unless you like winning.
