I will continue the fight!:laugh2:

Thank you for contacting me to express your support for wider availability of the NFL Network. I appreciate hearing from you on this issue.

Like you, I enjoy professional football and am pleased that the NFL has invested in offering more entertainment options for its fans. The NFL Network was launched in 2003 and distribution of the channel is negotiated privately between the NFL and cable and satellite television companies. As you know, some of these companies offer the network as part of their standard package of channels, while others include it in a separate tier. Still others do not carry the NFL Network at all.

As you point out in your letter, there are competitive services to those offered by cable companies. I trust that consumers will make the final decision about the best way to offer the NFL Network by rewarding those companies offering the best programming for the best price. The federal government did not mandate the creation the NFL Network, and it should likewise take no part in negotiations between the NFL and television distributors.

Thank you again for sharing your concerns with me. Please contact me in the future about anything important to you or your family. It is an honor to serve you and the people of the State of South Carolina .

Sincerely,

Jim DeMint
United States Senator

Better yet....don't write them......specifically don't write them any more checks. That's a language they'll understand quite easily.

actually, I'd say one of his interns has his head on straight. as much as we'd like to think that we have a direct line to our elected officials, most of this work is handled by staff.
