Restricted FA vs Franchise player..?

I keep seeing players listed as restricted meaning a team will have to cough up a first rounder to sign that player and than I see the Franchise designation that a team will have to cough up 2 first rounders... so is the only difference between the 2 is the amount of first rounders it will cost a team ..?

Restricted comes at the end of a players 1st contract I believe......just a way of making sure that a team doesn't get shafted after developing a draft pick.

Franchise is for a team that doesn't want to lose a specific player at any time in their career.


At least thats how I thought it was.....
