Retail meltdown: Which chains are closing stores in 2016?

Was just in St. Thomas and saw a K-Mart for the first time in close to 10 years. And it sold liquor!

haha yea, the Wal-Marts in Nebraska sell liquor...You can get it just about anywhere in Nebraska actually.....gas stations, grocery stores, retail stores, on top of dedicated liquor stores etc, and theres no asinine "No Sunday liquor sales"....one of the few good things about the Cornhusker state......TX is by far the best state in the Union, but nothin pisses me off more than not bein able to buy liquor on Sunday if I so desire, its the principle of it....not all of us are Christians spendin their day in church, but whatevs.....

I travel for work, so I always like to see various state's hilarious liquor law. There was one state where they could only sell wine based spirits. They had wine based Vodka. South Dakota was a Libertarian's wet dream. You could buy a shotgun and a bottle of Jack at Walmart, go to the gas station, which also had a pizza shop, casino, and bank inside it.

Should be interesting how it plays out. One advantage Walmart has is their liberal return policy. I can buy something with 0 risk on Walmart.com If I don't like it, I can just drive it a mile down the road to the Walmart neighborhood and be done with it. People forget that Walmart has a state of the art supply chain that is nationwide.

I don't know why they're so late into getting into the online shopping game, but Amazon could be in trouble if they execute it right.

My friend who is a long time manager for K-Mart said a lot of stores will be going in the next few years.

Big box stores are dying as the market place sales shift on-line to Amazon and others.
Just as the population shifts.

Home Depot will always be there.
Supermarkets will always be there.

Sure you can. If you are a night stocker getting $12-15 and work full time, you can qualify for food stamps. Just like if you where a full time sacker at Krogers for $8.50-9.50 an hour.

Walmarts are going to be around forever. Where else can you go to get groceries for dirt cheap, rotate your tires, buy a tv, and get some socks, and eat McDonald's while shopping. They got advocados 2 for $1 and seedless whole watermelons for $2.38. Comeon you can't beat them in pricing. The only competitor is Target in the DFW area, and their not even close in sales to wallyworld
