A question to the forum.
On a hot read, the QB reads a blitz coming and hopefully he signals the receivers and they see it also and the receiver breaks off his normal route for the hot read routs, quick slant or whatever.
What about when the routes are already "hot read" routes, like short slants, curls, etc. Then the defense only rushes 3 men and drops 8 into coverage, smothering the short routes.
I wonder if there is another hot read, kinda in reverse that allows the receivers to open into longer routes, allowing them to get down-field and open ?
At times the other night, it looked like it was a quick pass, that was smothered by the "D", yet Romo dropped it off quickly anyhow, even though he had little pressure.
Thoughts ?
