I had us starting off 2-3 then picking it up on the back end of the schedule

this season proved i need to throw away that mentality i had under the previous staff where i have to subtract 3 wins off my prediction for the lack of coaching
Great post.

I have thought from the day Big Mike took the job that we had a really good head coach. I've posted ad nauseam at the job he did the first year when everything went wrong. The team plays hard for him. None of us knows what goes on behind closed doors but it's obvious to me that he has a strong rapport with his players.

The good thing about the road ahead of us is the Giants and Eagles have yet to play one another. I think we sweep the Giants. And if we can take care of our toughest common opponents, the Vikings and the Titans, we could be pushing the Eagles for the bye.
Giants are 6-18 vs. the Eagles since 2010. I've never seen so many bad things happen to a single team in a rivalry as I have to the Giants when they play the Eagles. It'd be nice if they could give us a helping hand and beat them at least once this year.

MM said last year 10 wins is when you start thinking playoffs which of course means we need 5 more but damn, the Eagles will only need 3 if they win today.

Cowboys Schedule and Opponent Record as of today (Cowboys at 5-2):

The season outcome is likely heavily dependent on beating the Eagles and Giants.
- There is good chance the winner of the NFCE ends up with the Bye.

G ….. Rec …... Opponent
1 …... 3-5 …... Tampa Bay Buccaneers
2 …... 4-3 …... Cincinnati Bengals
3 …... 6-1 …... New York Giants
4 …... 3-4 …... Washington Commanders
5 …... 3-3 …... Los Angeles Rams

6 …... 6-0 …... Philadelphia Eagles
7 …... 1-5 …... Detroit Lions

8 …... 3-4 …... Chicago Bears
Bye
9 …... 3-4 …... Green Bay Packers
10 …... 5-1 …... Minnesota Vikings
11 …... 6-1 …... New York Giants
12 …... 3-3-1 …... Indianapolis Colts
13 …... 1-4 …... Houston Texans
14 …... 2-5 …... Jacksonville Jaguars
15 …... 6-0 …... Philadelphia Eagles
16 …... 4-2 …... Tennessee Titans
17 …... 3-4 …... Washington Commanders
Yep quite doable, however, can't see the Eagles losing to anyone else, so we'll still miss out on the bye.

We have a very favorable schedule. While I’d love to beat both Green Bay and Minnesota coming off the bye week, I’ll be happy with a split considering both are road games. We get both NY and Philly at home so that’s another plus. The rest of the teams on our schedule either suck or are average at best. We should be able to reach 12-13 wins, but you just never know with this team.

Let the pressure be on the Eagles to continue to win, where the Cowboys can play under the radar.

Defense will get better but will the offense though?
I think 13 Ws is our ceiling, enough for a WC, but not for the division crown this year.
Can we avoid San Fran and Philly until the NFC CG?
Maybe they clash and we get the one that survives.
Will the Bucs right the ship and we get one last shot at Brady?
Hope the chips fall right for us this year, is certainly overdue.

Agree but their next 4 games.........Steelers, Texans, Commanders, Colts. In fact, this is probably the easiest leg of their schedule.

The last four seasons the Cowboys have gone 1-3 against the AFC division on their schedule.
Having already beaten the Bengals, Dallas appears to being capable of sweeping their AFC opponents for the first time in 6 years (last done in 2016).
Oddly, all of their AFC South games are in December.

The Defense getting better will/should allow the Offense to continue playing this run first game that's been successful for us during the first half of this season.

Our issue with 49ers/Buccs and anyone with a run stopping ability (as highlighted as highlighted in the Denver Blueprint) is that we've had to sacrifice the run game as we hemorrhage points and play catch-up ball. This years Eagles game showed that even with a QB that was struggling, our Defense and running game (when fit) is good enough to keep us in the game.

So long as we continue the run game run, tire out the opponents D, (Defense keeps us in the game) and allow gaps in the secondary to develop (rather than push it), I dont think there's anyone to worry about in the NFC.

The other 'favorable' aspect of the schedule is that even if the worst came to the worst and we lost on Christmas Eve we've probably already done enough to qualify for the play-offs and could start resting players for the Titans and Commands games.

I don't know why some of you are saying that the second half of the season will be easier.
We know about the beagles and gi-ain'ts, they'll be tough to beat.
Vikes, Packers, titans and the Colts are all capable teams.
Even the Red-skins and the Jaguars aren't push overs.
Cowboys will be lucky to win the wildcard spot.
.
Barring injuries, Eagles is just a better team.
And NYG may also be, by the time they come to Dallas.

Obviously the NFL is unpredictable and anything can happen, but I think there’s 5 games that we SHOULD win- Bears, Colts, Texans, Jags and Commanders. Not going 5-0 against them would be fairly disappointing imo. 4-1 at worst.

Packers, Vikings, Giants and Titans are tough games, but still winnable. 2-2 would be nice.

Eagles are obviously very good and who knows if that game will even matter for the division the way the eagles are going. But we usually do split with them and we played them pretty tough despite Rush giving the ball away.

So as long as this team stays focused and avoids any major injuries I think 11 wins should be the minimum. We’ll see…

Dallas is a favorite in all but 3 of those games. Sorry I think the Giants suck. They have gotten very lucky this season. Plus Philly at home could be a win. 12-5 if it goes like it should.

Still impresses me that the team went 4-1 during the 5 game stretch where the opponents were a combined 22-11.

Years ago. It wouldn't have happened and it may have saved the season with the easiest part ahead of us
..
thats how good this team could be... now only if we had a QB
