I do think the fact that we don't have any bigger, goal-line backs gives him an advantage that other candidates like him didn't have when they were trying to get the team to keep a fullback. If he can seize that role as well as be a lead blocker on some plays and a special-teams standout, he could be the breakthrough.

He's competing with the 4th TE to make the roster.
I agree. If he can play, he might offer a lot more than a 4th TE that will rarely see the field- especially given the lack of quality depth at RB. I actually can't see Dallas keeping 4 TE's regardless. Better to keep an additional offensive lineman for example, or CB for that matter. Dallas has some good quality depth in the secondary now.

Lots of folks are high on this guy, but it’s going to come down to MM creating a role for him.

I’d love to see it, but Im not sure it’s going to happen. If he can be both TE4 and RB4, it could work.

Many things need to happen the right way for him, and not all of those are good for this team overall.

On paper he's the perfect complement to Pollard in the run game, together and separately.

He'll probably be one of the top Pet Cats of camp. Deuce will be sure to be very popular. Bostick will be mine if they turn him into a blocking TE.

Pollard, Duece, Luepke would be a great combo if they committed to using them in the proper roles and we had a great Oline. Its quite a collection of skills.

This guy is perfect if they use him correctly. Shoon at TE and Leupke in the backfield in front of Pollard gives you lots of options. Motion Shoon to the right and have Leupke lead block on that side with Pollard coming downhill.

No undrafted Cowboys FB has ever carried the ball more than 34 times in his rookie season. Lincoln Coleman holds that record.

No undrafted RB has ever carried the ball more than 38 times in their rookie season. Malik Davis holds that record.

Only five undrafted Cowboys ever started more than 10 games their rookie seasons. Interestingly, two of them were LG's, Ronald Leary and La' el Collins. Another was Robert Steele. The remaining two came out the same season and both in the defensive backfield, Everson Walls and Michael Downs. That's five players in the past 53 seasons (1970).

Whatever Luepke does, it won't be this upcoming season unless all other options are unavailable. That would not be a good thing.

Just like all the other undrafted rookies, Leupke is on the outside looking in. A bigger signing bonus will not determine his future with the Cowboys. He must impress with limited opportunities.

Projecting any contribution this season by Luepke is a tad ambitious.

A lot will come down to how he looks blocking on special teams and running routes. I think he'll need to beat out McKeon

You always post great insight, and it doesn't go unnoticed, but disagree with you here my friend.
Mark my words now, Luepke is going to have a roster spot and a role this season.

He has already done that.
McKeon is dead man walking, he is already cut and just doesn't know it yet,

MM must have an idea in mind since the Boys guaranteed him $200,000. You don't pay an UDFA that much unless you have a plan. He has to show he can implement the plan, but this is more than taking a flyer on an anthlete.

With the new practice squad rules, McKeon can go back on the PS ... and we know from last year that we can get him there.

Sure is getting hyped up.

Pretty sure someone will compare him to Alstott in an OP at some point.

Needs to be good on STs and have a defined role on offense to make it.
