1. Who else here wasn't pumped after that first TD. Reminded me of Irvin across the middle in the first Super Bowl against the Bills. I was feeling like a kid again.
2. They ran all over us right down the middle. We need to solidify the middle of the defensive line. Also wouldn't hurt to get the safeties involved a little and I blame that on Rod/Kris. They needed to bring them down a little and trust Jones and Awuze on the outside.
3. Dak is a pretty accurate QB. He looked good besides a miss read on what should have been a pick 6, he got lucky there. There is something about Dak that I really like and makes me a believer.
4. Taco got held big time on the last Rams TD. He was going crazy and I clearly seen why. Having said that who knows if he even has a chance at making the tackle cause he is a soft taco. Watch the last running play of the game that sealed it on the 2nd and 5. He has a clear shot to make the play and the guy runs through him like he's Marcus Peters.
5. Again, extremely disappointed in the lack of attack and design by the defensive coordinators. Shouldve been blitzing our corners and safeties should have been involved a lot more. Also played way to much zone. This team excels when we play press man which was most of the year and especially against the saints and they went completely away from it.
6. Gallup showed up big time. Like him a lot as our number 2 going forward. Same goes for Jarwin. He came on late in the season and played well despite an ankle injury. Would love to see us sign Eifert cause he would be the perfect challenge for Jarwin at a very low risk, very high reward.
7. We always get screwed somehow on a weird call and this game was no different. One of the biggest calls of the game was early when Jones was called for illegal contact on a 3rd and long and the Rams ended up scoring a TD before half, but the worst call was the whistle blowing early on Dak when he was wrapped up by none other than Lael Collins. How the refs could blow that play dead is everything that is wrong with the NFL on the field. I actually understand that they wanna protect the QBs and that is fine for the first 16 games of the year, but in the playoffs they gotta let these guys play!
8. This one will not be popular but I really wish we had Irving for this game. He is a game changer when he's on the field. I can't believe that we never got this guy back for the final couple weeks of the regular season and had him full and ready to go in the playoffs. You just can't count on him and it sucks cause he is such a huge impact on gameday and I really think he could've changed the outcome of this game. Just sucks and I know I'm in the minority but I hope they do resign him and sit him down and explain to him that he could get $20 million guaranteed to him if he could play a full season next year. Not that I would resign him to a huge contract but if he could get that in his empty head then we would at least reap the rewards of him playing a full season. Sure theres more to it than that but I would love it.
9. They need to stop with the same old run right on 4th and 1. It's so predictable.
10. This team with a real head coach with some balls probably goes to the Super Bowl last year.

Our run D was non existent. In hindsight I think Dallas wins that game if we stuff the run and force Goff to pass.

Agree on Irving, but I think he is up for a long suspension. From what I hear his commitment is also in question?

Irving is definitely a special talent. The guy doesnt love the game. Soon, he'll be broke and back in the NFL

I hate it when people say someone doesn't love the because he has off field issues, it's clear there's other issues with him, doesn't mean he doesn't love the game, these guys are human and they have warts like anybody else can have. I'm sure we all have people in our lives who have demons they have to deal with and overcome.

The biggest stat of the game offensively wasn’t mentioned. We were 1 of 10 on 3rd downs.

Which prevented us from controlling time of possession keeping the ball away from the Rams prolific offense.

If our defense hadn’t held them to 3 field goals early it would have been a blow out and over by halftime.

IMO, the game was lost in the film room more than the field.

The rams coaches found a defensive tendency that our DL used all year and built most of their offensive game plan around it. In fact, if you go back and watch most of their big runs, their OL did not physically whip our DL.

Here’s what the rams did to us that we could somehow not adjust to: On many run plays, their tackles would stand up and drop back as if it was a pass play. Our DEs were aggressively pushing upfield, and those ram tackles would just let them, opening a gaping hole. The other thing they did was not substituting much on offense, which when they went up tempo with the same personnel, it prevented us from making substitutions as often as we wanted, tiring out our defenders.

Bottom line- SURPRISE! We got out coached.

Good analysis.

Ultimately it came down to run defense. They all but shut ours down while their rushing attack set a playoff record. It's nothing short of a miracle that we didn't get blown out and had a slim chance to tie it late.

I know we win that game if we stop the run. Everytime we got even close to goff he threw a bad pass. Why on earth Marinelli or Richard didn’t adjust to stuff the run I will never understand.

out-coached, severely out-coached....after ONE series where they just ran up the gut on you over and over, a legit coach makes adjustments....not the brainless Garrett and co

we lost the game WAY before they suited up - LA knew what to do, Dallas had zero clue what to do (still likely is wondering what happened)

I can't say thats the case for Irving, but it's true some guys simply aren't as passionate or in love with the game. I understand your point though.

I have tried to forget that defensive meltdown! Once again no defense against the run up the center of our defense! Thanks for reminding me!!!!

Great job, thanks for sharing.

Marinelli kept us in 4-2-5 nickel. Not a scheme known to stop a power running game.

Coaching isn’t a strength for us but IMO it’s a poor analysis not to place some responsibility on a lack of talent in some key areas and not executing.

And I certainly don’t see us as a better team than the Rams. I thought the best team won.

A 22nd ranked offense with an average or at least less than prolific passing QB in this pass happy era without a generational defense to stop opposing prolific offenses and QB’s shouldn’t be expected to go any further than we did.

I actually thought as dominated as we were early on our coaching made some adjustments in 2nd half to slow them providing us an opportunity to keep the game within reach.

If you look at the stats closely the game should have been a total blowout.

Yeah to me to play in the NFL...you have to love it because it’s not worth it if you don’t:.
