When Garrett was here it was easy to see his shortcomings. On the other hand he seemed to put together a team well and they seemed to play hard for him.

I hated Garrett’s clock management, his stubborn refusal to exploit an opponent’s weakness and refusal to be anything but conservative, kicking field goal after field goal in the red zone.

My reluctance in letting Garrett go was I really thought Garrett was a smart man who learned from previous mistakes and I wasn’t sure that Jerry wouldn’t bring in a worse coach than Garrett.

I am glad Garrett is gone and I think MM is an upgrade over Garrett. What I am surprised about is that Garrett doesn’t seem to have learned anything as OC. Same old same old. I guess I was wrong about him improving as he goes. He seems to be stuck in 1990.

Garrett's strength as a coach was that he was an adequate team manager. He was never a very good tactician or game manager. He isnt really a fit as an OC. He should have either coached at college, or got a broadcasting job

Garrett over thinks things too much! He wont exploit a teams weakness, he wants to play his game and not game plan.

honestly I am not sure what garrett has done wrong this season in NY. Jones has been excellent outside of his redzone fumble in week one. Yesterday he didn't call any runs for Jones which seems to be a mistake but yesterday they went into the game with golladay hobbled and limited and then slayton and shepherd were both injured in the 2nd quarter. They had two ps players one who was just signed to the team as starting wideouts in the second half and they played really well.

The knock on the giants so far is they cant get stops on defense like last year particularly in the fourth quarter where they have fallen apart all three weeks.

Maybe he's a Cowboy through and through and went to NYG as a Trojan horse to make a nice 6 figure salary to ensure they implode. He's just getting back at Mara for Zeke's suspension.

He wasn’t a good coach or tactition or team builder. None of those things! More time on his resume would’ve done him good. Jerry rushed it along and it hurt him and the team!

It’s refreshing to see someone with the class to admit they were wrong. It’s in short supply these days.

Of the two years we had championship caliber teams he mustered up 1 playoff win. No need to revisit Garrett as a coach, just bury it in the dirt next to the careers he wasted.
Actually he had 2 playoff wins which was more than the previous 4 Cowboys HC’s cumulatively. And while we had possibly championship caliber offenses some seasons , we were below average to bottom tier on defense.

The good news is he helped build a core of talent we can win with when all are healthy and not suspended.

You read wrong. I'm talking specifically about two seasons.

It is a shame so much oxygen on message boards were wasted on him for years. The next Landry. Better as a GM. right kind of guys. Etc.

It was a massive failure keeping him around as long as we did. May be a great guy. Not an NFL head coach.

The Giants are playing exactly like those Cowboys teams use to. The common denominator? J Garrett.
