After our center went down with back spasms, I wondered aloud what would have happened if we had taken DeCastro and a center with our second round pick.

I'm happy with MO, and I think he is going to make us a LOT better team. I think our line play would have been slightly more solid (with more long term upside) had we gone the other direction. Obviously, Butler is no Mo.... but he has played pretty well, and I'm beginning to think he would have made a player for us.

I don't think that Ryan would have been able to be as aggressive with Butler as he is with MO. The good news is that our secondary has been upgraded. I think it was probably the right move, but this debate will certainly be worth watching.

I don't see the point.

I would have preferred oline with first two picks. Mo played pretty well tonight.

We needed secondary help...

like Sharper said, the giants were not expecting us to challenge them at the LOS....which is something we neeeded

Romo can make gold out of dirt, with this O-line, so I'm not worried

With better OGs and lesser CBs they would have lost that game. Murray had a 130+ yards and Romo did have time. The giants DL is going to get some pressure on OLs they are the best DL in the game. The OL did a solid job but have plenty of room for improvement.

Exactly. I'm not sure I would have felt comfortable with Scandrick starting and Butler playing the slot with Jenkins out. Maybe an alternate strategy would have been to draft Kirkpatrick and target a G/C in round two, but I'm still glad we got Claiborne.

Top rookie CBs rarely excel early in the season.

A great CB is worth more than a great G any day though

Corners are just more important than centers. Could we have traded a 7th for a journeyman corner and expected him to play that well?

I agree...

This....

I'm just going to try to be happy with the direction we did go in. Can't change it now. Hopefully Mo turns out to be a ballhawk.

There should be no debate Claiborne is here DeCastro is in the Burgh. Really wish we wouldn't have given up that 2nd pick but that's over & done with. If we didn't have Claiborne we prolly would have lost tonite b/c no matter what Jenkins still wouldn't have played. No offense to Butler but he's not ready to come in & guard Nicks or Cruz, it would have been like having Ball back.

I don't understand in what universe (well maybe some on this board) that people think a center would have close to the value of a CB.

Only on the zone I guess.

Abso-stinkin-lutely on the money.

I dont buy the argument that the Giants were expecting Dallas to play off either WRs. Having corners that Rob could play up in press coverage is all Dallas talked about this off season. That is Carr's style of play, the truth is our guys went out there and took it to them a bit.

I'm not sure the result would have been different tonight, but I agree that it is easier to find a center than an elite cb. But we are talking two players for one. Would DeCastro/Glenn and Hossley been better than just Mo? Time will tell.

I'm ok with the move we made....I'm just saying..... This debate will probably be a lot like the Merriman/Ware debate ..... but we obviously got that one right over Bill Parcells' objections. Hopefully we were right on this one as well.

Both positions needed to be addressed. Both positions were addressed. People on here who still whine about not drafting Decastro, etc., after watching tonights game, are just agenda driven.
