There was near universal disdain on this board on cut down day when Clutts remained on the roster at the expense of several promising young players. So, after ten games what say you Cowboyszone? Was it the right decision keeping him over whoever it was we had to cut to do so? How has he impacted the running game this season? Is he a key component or a replaceable JAG?

Right now I see him as a minor contributor, He does not get many chances to carry the ball or catching the ball out of the backfield. Maybe over the last part of the season his role will increase but for now I don't think he would be difficult to replace.

I may be a bit unfair in my view but last FB that would make me say wow went by the nickname Moose and I have seen nothing close to that at FB since he retired

This x 100. I think Clutts has done what is asked of him, but he is no Moose. I wish we could clone Moose and stick him in today's line-up for one game just so I could see him smash a few LB's, carry the ball on a 4th and 1 surprise and catch a pass in the flat from Romo with Witten out blocking in front of him. Oh and just to here the Moose calls in the opposing team's stadium one more time.... Ah to dream...

it would be nice to have a fb who could catch the ball out of the backfield but with our weapons thats not really going to happen often anyway. what we need is a power blocker to lead the way and he has been decent at that role. there may be other options this off season but he is a decent player

yeah i'll eat my crow. I wanted him gone for Byrd. I just didn't see the value in a FB over a promising WR at the time

i keep half expecting Linehan to start utilizing him more in the passing game out in the flats, but it never comes to fruition.. either he sucks at catching or Linehan is saving it for later in the season. I hope it's the latter

It hasn't hurt us. Williams is still on the P-S and nobody has taken him. We are a very good 3rd and short running team. We weren't before Clutts because we would try and have a TE do some of the blocking. So yeah, I think it was a good decision to keep Clutts and move Williams to P-S.

It has been clear for longer than a lot of people were willing to accept that Garrett wanted a fullback. He values the position ... but I hope he shows how much he values it by seeking a multidimensional threat at the position if he gets the opportunity.

Fullback is a role player in this offense. It's a small role, but Garrett certainly considers it to be necessary. I also think it's a role that could grow if we could acquire one with enough run and receiving skills to be a triple threat.
