He's done nice work with the Jets. I would get him back.

That said, he will probably follow Mangini to Cleveland.

since we offered 1.5 mil for Proctor and Hurd, yeah why not bring him back for 1 mil. Worth it IMO.

Elam is a better gunner on special teams, and we could get a cheaper player who actually has upside at WR to replace his spot

Elam certainly can't be had for $1 million. The tender amount isn't how much you'd have to offer to get him, it's how much his team offered him for a one-year contract. We'd have to offer him a contract he'd be willing to sign and that the Jets wouldn't be willing to match.

Not interested, and as Adam correctly pointed out you cant get him for one million. he isnt worth more than that either.

he does not make many plays either, especially vs the pass

Well I kinda knew that. The biggest thing I probably should've put in the thread title is that he can be had for no draft compensation. That peeked my interest more than the salary.

My efforts to write a cool title failed, huh?

Those were the times. He hasn't dropped that pearl of wisdom on us in a while. Maybe if we signed Ray Ray, he'll dust it off for the occasion.

Let him stay gone or go somewhere else. I was glad he was not retained.

Yep, right on the money. I like that it wouldn't cost a pick to get him but I he'll get more than that from someone. He's not a bad player, nothing great or special, but he's solid.

The fact we're poor at safety is no reason to go out and spend on marginal players with no more upside than Elam. I suspect that is why he was released. And the fact safeties need to cover well now means he's not a good candidate.

I can't take credit for it. Someone posted it a while back and I liked it so much I saved it.
