He played well to be sure, but The Saints had a bad secondary even before they had injuries at CB. If that game is any indication they would have had a tough time covering highschool receivers.

They made it worse for themselves because they kept messing each other up on defense. There were at least two times just in the 2nd quarter that they should have intercepted the ball, but another player in the secondary dove across and broke it up.

Whatever you think of Romo, the Cowboys should have considered trading up for Griffin. It is going to be awhile before any team is going to give up such a high pick with such a talented qb prospect sitting there. Instead, it looks like we'll be chasing the guy for the next decade-plus.

Last I heard the Saints had the worst defense all of last year. Once upon a time we had terrible defenses as well - and we allowed no name QBs to light us up.

I want to see him light us up before I consider him worthy. So far, nice start. But I doubt he'll duplicate that performance next Sunday and beyond.

The value of an elite starting quarterback over a decade-plus of play is incomparable to anything else. With one, you're a constant competitor. Without one, you're playing for scraps. If RGIII turns out to be that good, then the Commanders got a steal. Well, maybe not a steal. But certainly their money's worth.

Romo, as of right now, most likely has 3 good years left, if you mean "championship window," which I do. But if Tony Romo is going to play at a super-high level til he's 43, then you could trade Griffin.

So you're saying, instead of drafting a high prospect CB to help out our horrendous secondary, we should have traded up for a QB that wouldn't see the field for 4 years, when we are in win now mode?

I can't believe Shanahan will continue to run options with the kid. He won't last the regular season if that happens. But RG3 fits Shanahan's offense perfectly, and that's something to worry about. I think things will change some now that defensive coaches have film to look at, but the Skins are gonna score some points. Their running game was churning today too.

This was one game. There's a long way to go and a lot remains to be seen, but as unfortunate as it is to say, Griffin is not Michael Vick.

RG3 doesn't need to be a world beater this year. He just needs to avoid being the turnover factory that is Rex Grossman. If he's just reliable and a middle of the pack QB in his first year, the Commanders take a few steps forward.

I hate to say it, the guy is really good. The thing that stuck out to me most was his ability to scramble, read, and accurately connect with his receivers. Something that Mike Vick and other fast QB's cannot do. As a rook, this is pretty remarkable. A bittersweet excitement overcomes me though, I am looking forward to playing this kid. What a year this is going to be... stoked.

I could've told you that before today. He's the real deal. They gave up a TON to get him and he's clearly worth it. We just need to make sure we have a defense capable of containing him. We're heading in the right direction with Lee, Carter, Carr, Claiborne, etc....
