Richard Ash

It's not a one game pickup. He has to stay on the roster for three weeks. It may be depth for this week and in case some guys don't heal well. It also, could also be a player they like and want to take a look at in the off season. Perhaps they feel he may have potential to be more with the right system and coaching.

It could be they just want him for this game but that's a high price of a roster spot for three weeks.

I think they can cut him any time, but he gets paid for three weeks. I could be wrong and I'm too lazy to google it.

He has to get paid for 3 weeks. He does not have to be on he roster.

He's a non movable.......has potential to stop gashes up the middle

I think that was the point. They were being eaten up vs Detroit and moved into another alignment (I think I heard 5-2 with only 2 backers out there.) Having a hog in the middle could help protect the vulnerabilities of that defense. Im not the best X's and O's guy but that was how I understood it.

No, he does not have to stay on the roster for 3 weeks. The team has to pay him for 3 weeks but they can cut him at any time.

The alignment that Gruden went on and on about was a 3-2-6 which is a pass defense alignment.

Thanks, so maybe Ash would be a nice run clogger in the middle? Of course you may be sacrificing a rusher.

When you think about all of these teams cant run the ball:

NY
Detroit
Seattle
Greenbay

Only Atlanta has an established run this year. So running primarily a passing alignment may work against thier crappy run offenses.

What the liked about him is that he has spent all year on the Jaguars practice squad and they run a defense that is very close to what Marinelli runs here.

Ash is going to be able to step in and contribute to a rotation pretty much from the get-go.
