We lost a great man today. My ESPN Dallas colleague Richard Durrett collapsed and died suddenly. He leaves behind a wife and 2 little kids.
I don't know a more wholesome, clean-living person than Richard Durrett. So shocking and stunning.
The only criticism I ever had of Richard Durrett was that he was too nice. He went out of his way to befriend and help anybody he could.
I was one of many Richard Durrett helped. Gave me my 1st job at Denton R-C, lobbied hard for me to get UNT beat when he was promoted to DMN.

Wow that is sad.

I always liked listening to him on the radio. I always felt he did a good job.

this is sad,i just heard him today talking about Darvish's struggles against Oakland.

Wow. That is shocking. Rest in peace, Durrett.

Every time I heard his name, I'd always think of his theme/intro from Ben and Skin.

I hate to be that insensitive person who just wants to know what happened... but, what happened?

He collapsed and died from a brain aneurysm.

I never really followed his work, but he's been universally praised as an all around good guy who died much too young at 38 yrs old.

ESPN Dallas writer and blogger Richard Durrett died on Tuesday of a brain aneurysm. He was 38.
Durrett described himself on Twitter as a “writer and blogger covering Texas Rangers and other sports at ESPN Dallas.” He was also the host of Turf Talk with Cowboys CB Mo Claiborne on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM.

As recently as Tuesday morning, Durrett was tweeting about Texas Rangers transactions. Not much later, the young man died.

I'm not in Dallas, so I didn't really know of him, but dang...reading the Twitter stuff makes me feel like I did. Aneurysms are terrifying. Here one minute, gone the next.

Crazy and scary.

I started listening to 103.3 ESPN here in Dallas a few years ago. He was always present on 103.3, making guest appearances on shows like Ben&Skin, and would do special baseball programs some eventful nights, etc. He and Ian Fitzsimmons had a mid-day show to help fill the gap left by Ben&Skin leaving the station and the Cowherd show being bumped up to the live 9:00am slot instead of the syndicated lunch hour we were getting.

He really has always been the most likable guy on that station.
