Hempstead, NY -- Veteran running back Richie Anderson signed a contract with the New York Jets on Wednesday and plans to retire with the team that drafted him.

Anderson, selected by the Jets in the sixth round of the 1993 NFL Draft, registered 1,274 rushing yards and four touchdowns and caught 400 passes for 3,149 yards and 14 scores in 161 career games with New York and Dallas.

The Penn State product was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2000 as the starting fullback after collecting a career-high 88 receptions for 853 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 63 yards on 27 carries.

After nine seasons in New York, Anderson spent the final two seasons of his career with the Cowboys, posting 127 carries for 552 yards and two touchdowns along with 95 receptions for 700 yards and four TDs.

Dallas cut Anderson last April and he did not catch on with another team.
