Right he was a beast but still it was to much $ IMO I’m happy with Sam as our future DE hoping he wins the position.

Defensive ends are a weird lot. I played with a guy in my younger days who lined up next to me at the end position. he was skinny, lanky, but quick. If I got my hands on him off the field I could toss him around like a rag doll, but nobody could block the guy and he was in the back field all the time. I guess the moral of the story is give them all lots of reps and the cream will rise to the top

Yah, I think you are grasping at straws here. He may do some little things here and there, but I see him mainly as a pass rush specialist type player. I also see most other guys in front of him. Armstrong, Williams. Anything we get out of him would be gravy. Now if the guy shows and somehow leads, well then that would be great.

Armstrong might start but end up playing less snaps per game than the combination of Williams/Fowler.

Armstrong almost definitely starting IMO because he plays the run much better than Fowler and at this point I assume better than Williams (need to see him at this level before we decide what he is or is not). I agree about the snaps. I think Armstrong likely gets the most snaps of the three because I think he will play more early downs but since they will be rotating I think the "Williams/Fowler combo" should outsnap him - maybe 40/30/30.

Williams is the wild card for sure. I think Fowler will be a pretty good rotational pass rusher and Armstrong will be league average against both the run and the pass, but Williams is the one who can have a dynamic aspect to him. I am so psyched to see if he can rush the passer like I hope he can.

Remember, he was recruited by Quinn at Florida and was signed by him in Atlanta, he is a player our DC really likes.

Armstrong got a bigger deal than I thought he would. He's getting paid 2 years $13M, while Fowler is getting paid 1 year $3M... the Cowboys are clearly expecting more from the former.

So I'd guess Armstrong gets about 50% of the RDE reps, and Sam Williams and Fowler split the other 50%.

Armstrong and Williams are nice young pieces of the puzzle and Fowler was an under the radar but $ well spent by DQ who I’m certain was pushing his getting picked up.

I’m happy with the way the entire D line is shaping up it’s depth at LB I’m concerned with . Parsons LVE and even Jabril Cox coming off injury need to take very few snaps in pre season . No point risking either of them .

In my opinion, our biggest defensive weakness is stopping the run. It will matter who wins the job. Fully understand rushing the passer with fresh players, but they have to get into those situations on the early downs to do so.
