Right now, address the offensive line without delay

Like everyone, I questioned the run calls late inside the 10-yard line. Especially the second one. I get trying to get the first down and run the clock down. But that pitch play was asinine.

However.....that is distracting from a much, much larger issue. Why was the run game so bad last night? There were two GLARING reasons that stood out amongst the fray.

Travis Frederick and Connor Williams. Both were getting blown off the line of scrimmage repeatedly. It was ugly to watch.

Frederick must not have his strength back yet. He's not the same dude. And Williams just isn't any good as a guard. They were getting eaten alive all night long. Even when they ran away from that side, Minnesota would just set the edge and wait for backside help from the gaping Williams-Frederick hole. It was a disaster.

Immediately, the coaching staff needs to insert Looney and Sua-Filo into the starting lineup. As in, right now.

I'm concerned that Zeke has lost a step, maybe even a significant one, but last night was not about that. He just had nowhere to run.

Mike Zimmer obviously was ganging up on the run to make Dak beat him, but it should never be that successful, especially when Dak was so effective through the air last night. The run game should have been there, and it wasn't. Because of that weak middle of the line.

Make the change now. It just so obvious.

There's nothing to address until we have a news coaching staff. Let them make any changes. Until then, we're just moving chairs around on the deck of the titanic.
That's silly.

Looney was good last year, and Frederick is not over his illness. His strength is gone.

Williams just blows. Su'a-Filo can't play any worse.

OL can't win when the defense knows what's coming.

Any blame for this game that isn't pointed directly at the coaching staff - on both sides of the ball - is misguided. This game was close b/c of the talent. It was lost b/c of the coaching.

can Looney not play guard? if not at least stick the man at center. Frederick has been simply pedestrian

Frederick is on the fan in about two minutes and I am interested to see what he says about that 3rd down play.

If it means anything Bryan Broaddus has been saying forever that the team does not like Looney at guard and really would only put him there in case of an emergency during a game.

The GM-for-life and his baby boy have been rearranging deck chairs since before this current coaching staff, and they'll do it again soon.

It's not as if there will be changes in the front office. That's not how things work in Jerry's world. :muttley:

but they like Williams there, makes sense. This staff has coddled draft picks and vets, its sickening. Play the guys that can play.

I know but I keep hoping that given his age Jerry just might bring in a coach and let him have full control in a last ditch effort to get another SB before he dies. I admit it's not much but, hey, there's a chance, right?

As much as Zeke was not breaking tackles, running over people, making big runs, getting the needed yards, ect ...

Our OLine did him no favors, as neither did the playcalling.

When your long run is by a WR for a grand total of 7 yards, you know the running game sucked.

Sua-Filo would be great if you want to go back to giving up 50 sacks a season like last year. If you want Dak to be able to get to second read at any point, Sua-Filo needs to be on the bench.

Frederick just said he lost his cool after that third down run and was trying to get the coaches attention so that they could get into a look that would allow them to take a shot.

Geez. Frederick is yelling at the coaches on the field in a critical moment.

Fire everyone.

No chance. The jones family is never going to allow anyone to make decisions for them again. They built a facility in frisco that is ridiculous and there is no chance anyone is going to have say over football operations again.

You are right about that. But there is a high draft pick invested in Williams to justify. He must be a nice guy to the coaches to avoid the Taco treatment, because he has a capable guy in Sua Filo right behind him that they wont play.

sua filo can’t pass block.

if you put him in. It will help the run game. But Dak will have more pressure in his face.

Sua Filo will create just as many problems as he fixes.

Sounds like a myth. He isn't Larry Allen obviously, but seems we started winning last year when he was inserted.
