the Opening Ceremonies of the 2016 Summer Games in Rio will take place on August 5, however, there is heavy competition on that night; the theatrical premier of the Suicide Squad starring Jared Leto as the Joker.

the Ceremonies are a bigger that life event, its a big as the Super Bowl, well its Bigger, why? cause theres so much in the Opening Ceremonies, its full of excitement, theres music, arts, the parade of athletes. its gets us closer to the world.

the Suicide Squad is just another boring comic-book movie, lets not waste time and be so psych about some boring movie. the Opening Ceremonies and the rest of the Summer Games is something to be exciting about. I know im watching the Ceremonies as well as the rest of the games.

Summer games over Suicide Squad and im sorry to say, all the big movies still playing at theaters during olympic time, period

I agree that Suicide Squad is just another boring comic book movie... but, boy, do you have a habit of making sweeping, opinionated and judgmental threads. I'm still trying to figure out if you're a troll. Some of your posts have been pretty ridiculous. The ones that make this most obvious are your threads that tie into religion and conservative practices. Bottom line, stop telling people what they should like. As much as I don't want to see Suicide Squad, I'd rather watch it on mute than watch the opening ceremony of the summer games. But that's just my opinion.

lol. The Olympics will get the same amount of attention from me as they always do....which is zero.

I couldn't care any less about their opening ceremonies or the events or any of that stuff.

That said I don't know that I'll be watching Suicide Squad either. From what I saw in the trailer that was leaked, and then the official one put out because of that, I'm pretty sure I'm absolutely not going to like Leto as the Joker. His laugh, from that trailer anyway, sucks. His voice is awful. His personality/mannerism (From what we saw) is just not nearly good enough for the Joker character.

I have a feeling he is absolutely going to bomb as the Joker.

That's what everyone said about Heath Ledger.

Ehhhh sorry but no.

The fear for Heath Ledger was that he'd just come off playing a Gay Cowboy. That's why no one believed he could do it. The moment they released that one sound byte of him laughing I think people were pretty well sold that they'd give him the chance.

I was leery of Ledger playing it but it was the same as with Leto. I worried he wouldn't capture the personality, the voice, the mannerisms correctly. The moment I heard the laugh, and one line of dialogue, I was stoked because I believed Ledger had gotten it.

What I saw in that trailer...Leto isn't even close. If that's the way he's portraying it, or even close to how, then he's going to be an awful Joker.

That's just my opinion of course. We'll likely have plenty of people who will love his effort. But being as that Batman and the Joker are my two favorite comic book characters, ever, I have a very high standard for those characters.

What I saw in the trailer thus far has Leto falling well short of those standards.

I think the World Cup has a wider audience. I might be wrong on that though.

Olympics gets a lot more interest from a much more diverse part of the population. total numbers- depends on who you believe.

I don't watch movies on opening night as I hate being in theaters with people because most people are annoying *******s, but I'd rather watch Suicide Squad over the open ceremonies then just watch it on DVR the next day.

Neither is exactly a "I know what I'll be doing *that* night!" caliber of event for me.

Wow, the reviews have been brutal for Suicide Squad. Everyone was hyping it up as a DC hit, it may be still, but reviews aren't good.

On Rotten Tomatoes the film has a rating of 38%, based on 62 reviews, with an average rating of 5.3/10. The site's critical consensus reads, "Suicide Squad boasts a talented cast and a little more humor than previous DCEU efforts, but they aren't enough to save the disappointing end result from a muddled plot, thinly written characters, and choppy directing." On Metacritic the film has a score of 46 out of 100, based on 28 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".
