RIP Ennio Morricone

Between G,B & U, Once Upon a Time in the West, Once Upon a Time in America and The Untouchables, the man composed the most memorable and unforgettable scores. He composed the theme to State of Grace that I couldn't get out of my head, it was also one of the most underrated movies I ever saw.

He was a master of utilizing voice in such an unusual way, his scores were like operas.

Rest in peace icon. I will always remember the "Watch Chimes (Carillon's Theme)" by Ennio Morricone:

But do you agree that with the watch in For A Few Dollars More, every time it is used in that film, it specifically tells you what is going through the bandit’s mind?

Ennio Marricone: "Yes, I do agree with you and in this case the music that the watch makes transfers your thought to a different place because it is just a watch and of course every time the bandit winds on this watch this character, who is thinking about his life and all the difficult situations he has been in and has lived through, the rage, the violence, the fear, come out through this watch. The character itself comes out through the watch but in a different situation every time it appears."

His caption came coupled with a photo of the two taken when working on their final collaboration. Morricone's score for The Hateful Eight netted him his only Academy Award win, grabbing the Best Original Score Oscar, coming nine years after he was given an Honorary Award "For his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music." He was previously nominated five times for the Best Original Score award.

KEEPERS OF THE FLAME...LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD.

Although this Morricone score was originally created for The Mercenary soundtrack, I enjoyed it as The Bride's escape from the grave in Kill Bill: Vol.2:
