RIP......gotta love the love for former boys.

We could raise it up with numbers yankee style, but I would want a special cemetery for them.

Yeah its outside the box, but it would be special.

Team went 12-2 and 11-2-1 in the two years Jackie Burkett was on the team.

He played in 3 games for Dallas in 1968, then played 11 games for the Cowboys in 1969.

There aren't any stats on tackles available at NFL.com prior to 2001, so no stats are available for him besides several interceptions he got when he was with the Colts and the Saints. He played 5 seasons for Baltimore from 1961 to 1966. In '67 he jumped to the Saints, and had a great year for them, appearing in all 14 games and getting 3 interceptions.

In 1968 he jumped to Dallas, stayed for the '69 season, then went back for his final 10th year in the league with the Saints in 1970, grabbing 4 interceptions over 14 games.

RIP, Jackie Burkett!

Isn't it wonderful that when you play for the Cowboys (or any team I guess), when you pass they immediately mention that you played? It's almost like a military veteran dying. It's the first thing people mention. It must be nice to have been a part of something so revered, even if you only did for a short. time. RIP.
