diabetes is a disease that gets nowhere near the attention it should considering its cost in lives and resources. Contrast that to the attention breast cancer gets.

Animal House truly is one of the classic movies of all time; should be on the top 100 list.

You don't know how right you are. Standard treatment for Diabetes is Metformin and Glipizide. The kicker is that it takes higher and higher dosage to be effective and will eventually become ineffective. Add to that, they actually make you gain weight, which is a real problem for Diabetics. The treatment actually leads to Type 1 in many, many cases. So why use that combination of drugs for treatment? They are very cheap, that's why. There are multiple combinations of drug treatments that are much more effective but Insurance Companies don't want to cover them and they don't, which means that they cost hundreds of dollars and even thousands monthly. Most people can't afford to buy them so you get Metformin and Glipizide, which basically guarantee your disease is going to progress and kill you. It should really be illegal that this happens but nope.......
