It always felt strange how quickly he disappeared after Tampa. At one point, you couldn’t find a single broadcaster who didn’t sing his praise as one of the best Defensive Coordinators of all time.
perfect storm: the talent and situation and everything else all in the right place at the right time
look at Norv Turner; and how many called him an offensive genius with us; but never again came close to that kind of accolade for the rest of his career
right place right time and so on

RIP Coach! I always wanted him when he was at TB to be our DC and later on got my wish but Monte had aged greatly by that time unfortunately. Seemed to be a good man.

They truly wasted his best years.
