Former UNLV and SMU coach, coached the Patriots and Colts in the NFL, but, got his start as a scout with the Cowboys in 1971. Put SMU back on the map, but set the stage for the death penalty.

RIP to an original and a great story teller.

That alone makes him immortal.

Actually a very underrated coach. He just didn't put together a great track record in the NFL because he was dealing with, at the time, two very incompetent organizations and still managed to make them pretty decent.

I was always interested in what he had to say with regards to football.
