I didn't see this posted anywhere else, so apologies if it is/was and I missed it.

This is who Rivals.com has the Boys taking in the first two rounds:

#22: Jonathan Stewart, RB
My assessment: His toe injury still has me a bit concerned and I think we can get better value. CB should be our focus at 22.

#28: Kenny Phillips, FS
My assessment: CB is still the greater need, even if we don't get one with the first pick. Not sure if they are planning on using him as a corner. Is that possible?

#62: Tracy Porter, CB
My assessment: Again, CB should be our first pick of the draft, not the third. There's better value at WR and RB in the position.

Overall, I'm not sold on these selections. I would much rather see us get Talib with our first pick, trade the #28 for Williams and select Rice, Johnson, Charles or Smith to fill the RB need.

Stewart could be a steal at #22 or he could be hurt all year with a lingering injury

Tracy Porter = probably the worst corner in this draft.

He means that generally players drafted high are more likely to be good and generally players drafted low are more likely to be bad.

That's all find and dandy as a general statement if you don't actually take the time to look into each actual player and form your own opinion.

One of the few I like. Not a Felix fan here and I am loving the thought of Phillips.
You and me both. A lot of our problems in coverage is from poor play by one of our Safties. The one that was supposed to be so great, but who has been completely out-shined his entire career by one that was taken after him: Ed Reed. Phillips isn't supposed to be that good, but he's supposed to be very good and can cover and tackle...

Where'd you find the 60% stat? I've read some glowing reviews of him, and he got voted to some nice awards by the media.

I've seen him play, but only a couple of times...he is universalyl regarded as a 2nd rd pick though so its doubtful he is reall the worst, or even close the worst CB in the draft

as for all the stats you show on him, there are alot of variables that affect some of those numbers (such as the fact that Indiana stinks on defense)...there are some things your numbers dont show, like raw speed and foot quickness etc etc that would be more important in his overall rating...and its those numbers that are driving his draft status

We've been through this before. Indiana was #8 in the nation in terms of sacks per game and 24th in the nation in tackles for loss per game. So, any notion that the defensive line sucked is absurd.

I don't see the reason to expect one of the worst performers in college will become one of the better performers in the NFL. Typically college corners metrics get worse from college to the NFL, not better. And if he put up those metrics in the NFL he'd only be average.

How many INTs has Phillips collected in his college career? I want someone who's a ballhawk. If they can't do that in college, it's aint happening in the pro. I really hate seeing a highlight reel of a DB making tackles. Get me some INTs.

I'd love this draft , and really like Porter . He's actually good enough to slide into the first round depending on where the other corners go .

and we also went through where most of those numbers came from too didnt we? when they played the above average to better teams they were absolutely shredded. They have very little, if any other NFL calibar talent on that defense.

will depend on where he goes, who coaches him and who plays around him...the physical talent is clearly there

No, you didn't show squat. You only stammered and stumbled your way through an incoherent argument.

Jacques Reeves has the physical talent. Drafting the guy in the 2nd round based on a 4.3 40 yard dash ALONE is ridiculous.

Just throwing it out there that I have seen a couple of Mocks that compare Porter's game to Newman's. TSN has him as the 15th CB and 4th round talent. PFW has him as a 2nd round pick.
