I spit up drink and agree. Choir boy is cool if he can be nasty on the field...

He has never said he was looking for choir boys being dedicated has nothing to do with being a choir boy. Heck even Jimmy had a long sit down with Haley before they brought him in because Johnson was not willing to deal with Haley locker room issues so Jimmy told him how things would be

no doubt no one likes going 8-8 and missing the playoffs, heck it is his job that is on the line. He has explained what they want in players guys who are willing to put team over themselfs, guy who are willing to work hard to improve as players. Do all teams look for that? I'm pretty sure they do but as we know not all players are like that and we have cut loose players who are not doing those things. In the end yes his job is not about what he says to the press it is about winning and if he is not doing that then it really will not matter if his pressers are entertaining or not.

This is a fair post and am sure most teams are actively seeking the same standard but make exceptions based off of ability. We do too with choices like Carter, resigning Hatcher and Spears, relying on Ratliff last season, etc. The team still enables it unless it is financially unwise to do so as with not resigning Hatcher this off season due to age. We turned around and signed Melton who has some character concerns, and make the trade for McClain more recently. In a way, we are telling to stop pretending his method is above it, because the evidence shows otherwise. TO was released the year JG took over so the only player I can remember him butting heads with was Barber (who was released due to productivity and contract). We had Hurd slangin on the side, etc. But you are totally correct that I would not feel this frustration with JG, or even nitpick his words/pc's if the team was winning. I actually liked the JG hire initially bc of the dynasty connection but found myself missing Payton/Sparano quicker than I ever imagined.

I know what JG's definition is even if I feel it is intentionally vague. I was more referencing I would take anybody (good or bad) if they could play on the field and didn't cause rifts in the locker room.

To an extent I agree but guys who are getting suspended are not going to do much for their team. I don't think Dallas is dimsissing any player Josh Brent has been talked about in terms of coming back yet when the Cowboys mentioned that many here went off on that saying he should not get a chance. Again that has noting to do with what Garrett has talked about in terms or RKG he never once said they are looking for saints what they are looking for are guys who are willing to dedicate themselfs to this team to put team above themselfs.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said he wants players with ego. But the right kind of ego.

“Ego in the context of what we’re trying to accomplish as a team,” he said Saturday at a high school football camp at Cowboys Stadium. He was asked by reporters to describe the kind of player he is looking for in free agency.

“We’re looking for the right kind of guy,” he said. “The right kind of guy, to us, is someone who loves to play football, who is very passionate about it, willing to work hard at it, willing to be part of a team, willing to be part of something that is maybe greater than himself.

“We want a guy who has an ego. Egos are important. But ego in the context of what we’re trying to accomplish as a team. Guys who are willing to work, are great teammates – there’s always going to be a place for those guys.”

I will post this again and if you read it why was this even talked about? Because the Media asked, you want to get mad get mad at them they ask the question and when Garrett responds you get upset? What is he suppose to say well we are looking for selfish thugs who do not give a damn about the team and are not willing to do what is asked of them by the team.

If you don't think RKG is important, just look at Cleveland right now. Its best player is facing a one-year suspension, and it's future QB is snorting cocaine (or something) in Las Vegas.

It matters.

And don't forget, we put in a 3rd round bid on that suspended best player in Cleveland. In 2012 when JG was well into his term.
