What's the longest drive that some of you have had to travel?

When I was a little kid, we drove from Florida to California, to catch a flight to move to Hawaii. I don't really remember it other than there were a lot of bathroom and motel stops. Sometimes even sleeping in the car on the side of the road. Nothing really exciting happened. Lots of great scenery though.

Any one else have some road-trip stories?

Military family? How long ago?

We flew from Hawaii to Travis AFB in California, then drove to Seattle, WA via rental, and then cross-country to Northern VA where my family rests their heads now, and where I claim as home.

I just today finished a drive from Kansas City to Orlando. A few years ago I made a trip from KC to Providence Rhode Island. In November I'll be driving out to L.A.

I went to Texas in January, Florida now, California in November, and I think I may make a trip to Minnesota to catch the game in Octoboer to complete the North South East West road trip for this year.

This was '94. Moved back to the states, or what the Hawaiians call, "the Mainland" in '98.

Damn, reminds me. We then had to go to the East coast to catch a flight to live in Italy in '99. But we flew there.

When I was a kid. We drove from Dallas to Mexico city on vacation. But that was 1966 and it was safe then. Dallas to California, and Dallas to New York would be the others. I enjoy road trips.

Memphis to Mission TX and back many times

Why were you going to Mission? I had an Aunt in Mission and that was our "normal" summer road trip.

We moved to Hawaii in '94 and back to Virginia in '96. I went to Mililani Uka and my dad was stationed at Schofield Barracks.

My dad was stationed at Pearl Harbor. And we lived in Ewa Beach. I was home-schooled because the schools were so crappy.

Yes. They were. I still can't believe my parents let me go to public schools there. If my brother and I weren't relatively smart guys, we would've ended up getting held back a grade upon enrolling in school in Fairfax County, VA.

I had to end up repeating 10th grade because we found out the Private School that I went to my last year in Hawaii was un-accredited :bang2:

During my freshman year of college, 4 of my friends and I drove from Colorado to New York City. We left on a Thursday afternoon, drove straight through and got in early Saturday morning. We spent 22 hours in the city and then drove back, straight through again, and made it back for class on Monday. When I pulled into the student parking lot the trip odometer read exactly 4000 miles.

Two parter..
When I was a kid in 1975 (also happens to be the year I started watching football and became a cowboy fan) we lived in Fortworth Tx, we took a trip out west to tombstone, four corners NM, the Grand Canyon, Painted desert, and so on. One of the places we stoped was a small road side store on Jack Rabbit rd. Well my dad and I are named Jack so my mom took out picture in front of the sign.

Flash forward 20 years, I was stationed in Cali, and we're moving back to Fl, so we're driving along and I see this exit "Jack Rabbit Rd" so we get off and my son and I (both named Jack) we get my wife to take our picture infront of the same sign that my dad and I had our picture taken infront of...
