I think that something might be overlooked or perhaps I'm looking too deeply at something that isn't there.

Rob Ryans focus on the presnap defensive confusion I think might be really helping out Romo.

If Romo can figure out Rob Ryan's defense presnap, he can figure out anyone's defense presnap.

And he really seems to be doing that this year. He's really seeing quite a bit. Perhaps to his determent when he does get fooled. But you look at how he tore apart Detroit in the first half, I think he even said at some point on the sidelines, "I can see everything they're doing."

I know everyone isn't pro romo, but I definitely have seen a difference from him this year in how he is managing the game presnap. Maybe it's part of his development, but I think Rob Ryan might have to do with it.

Discuss.

I have def considered that practicing against the complex Defense has helped Romo. I also wonder if Garrett ever brings offensive plays to Rob to see how Rob would go about challenging it. Or if Rob notices keys in the offense and communicates that to Garrett. Its an interesting dynamic.

I think a byproduct of having a top offense and defense is being catapulted to a higher level as a result.

That said we need to stay healthy, and we need to minimize mistakes.

It's similar to the idea that people downgrade Austin and Bryant because they don't think you can put out the idea of having 2 top 5-10 receivers on the same team without being a homer.

Likewise no one wants to put the defense or offense into the category of elite because if you have an elite offense and defense your expectations obviously move to super bowl.

If you took the Ravens defense and the Colts offense and put them on the same team... what would the result be? I think our offense and defense have that type of potential.

When you have an offense that can win a super bowl and a defense that can win a super bowl, its hard to compete against them.

I had actually thought the same thing during the first half of the Lions game. I didn't post that thought after Tony melted down in the second half. I do think maybe he is getting a little too confident in his pre-snap reads.

The other thing that I think is going on is Tony does not yet trust his line in pass protection. This causes him to react only to the pre-snap reads rather than making sure the read was the right one. The interceptions to Revis and Carpenter were likley caused by this. If this line improves in pass protection and Tony gets to the point where he can trust them, then I think we may see Tony Romo play better than ever. At least I hope that is what happens.

I agree with you completely.

so how does this help Romo and the Cowboys close a game? IS Romos reading a defense the reason we cant finish a game?

Honestly that is how i feel....i know Our D is tops and Offense is tops...but i hope the whole NFL never see's it until it's to late...i'd hate for them to build us up...and after we WIN vs the pats...i know they will do exactly that

Maybe in certain spots it becomes a double edged sword. I'm fairly certain it has been conformed by Garrett to some extent and other qualified parties, that Romo's 1st INT was the result of a presnap read. He thought he knew where Barbie would be and failed to confirm his local post snap.

Interesting dynamic, which I'm sure happens behind closed doors. Rob is a cowboy right now, why not. Now if Rob takes a job and becomes the enemy, as an offense you can take advantage of what you have told him.

Alot of times we are getting caught up in the offense and the defense as two separate entities, but really we are a team, and the only way to be a great team is to work together for the common good of the team.
