The Saints will make a move on defensive coordinator Rob Ryan during their bye week, according to Fox Sports' Alex Marvez.
Per his report, New Orleans will fire Ryan after his defense gave up 514 yards and 47 points in a 33-point loss to Washington on Sunday. It marked the second straight game the defense had given up over 40 points.
Ryan's defense ranks last in six separate categories. They are at the bottom of the league in allowing points, yards, passing touchdowns and passing and rushing yards per attempt. They rank last in forcing interceptions and 31st in giving up first downs. The defense is also a large reason behind the Saints penalty problem.
According to The Football Database, the Saints defense has been penalized for holding, pass interference illegal contact or offsides 27 times, and they lead the league in defensive holding penalties accepted.
In fairness to Ryan, his unit especially the linebackers have been experiencing injuries woes all season, but it doesn't look like that's an excuse the organization is willing to accept any longer.
