"You really don't want to make many of them. If you don't make many of them it means you're doing a good job. We're not going to adjust on anything until we have to"

The aftershocks in 5, 4, 3, 2...

If that's his philosophy, then yeah, I can see why he wouldn't have made many coming out of the half on Sunday, the defense was playing well.

The problem is we arent doing a bad job until the second half. Most adjustments happen at half time, meaning whatever they figure out at the break, we are countering.

"You really don't want to make many."

I think it was kind of self explanatory.

Making adjustments is obviously a necessary part of winning a game, most times.

The thing is, there are only so many adjustments you can make. You can move safeties up or back, DL/LB's around. But the more changes you make from your plan, the more confusion you create, and then nothing works. You may have a really thick playbook, but there are only so many of those plays you can actually practice the week leading up to the game. You develop, but you can't deviate from it too much, or you'll have mass confusion in the defense.

Seems like we often don't make them at all whereas our opponent does and consequently gets the better of us late in the game.

Media speak, nothing more. NFL coaches are too good at what they do to not adjust from half to half. If you don't adjust, most guys at this level will burn you.

I'd love to see someone try and run the exact same scheme in the second half as they did the first against Sean Payton. It just doesnt happen, even when you're dominating you make minor tweaks.

That's what Ryan said, he just said you don't make many of them.

He didn't say he doesn't make adjustments. He said if you don't want to make MANY. If you're making MANY, then you're probably doing badly.

I don't see how it's media speak to say you aren't going to change a lot if you're doing well, why would you?

I guess we need some of our fans here to go be our coaches.

In the top 10 in scoring, passing, and running on Defense to me sounds like he knows what he is doing. But I defer to you and the others who think he must not.

i'm not a big believer in any stats other than W/L. our defense tends to hold the score down, but we still get torched at criticla points of the game. we lead or are close to leading the league in sacks, yet we don't get consistent pressure on opposing qb's. i don't think our defense scares our opponenets, do you?

I think scared is a concept for fans to dream of.

If however you think other teams don't study our Defense, and I mean study every guy on the field, and try to find weaknesses out there to game plan, then I think you're quite delusional.

Can anyone name a game other than Philadelphia where we didn't make adjustments?

yeah, they do study our defense and seem to have figured it out pretty well. look, i love the cowboys as much as anyone, but i try to be realistic about what the team is all about these days.

I know that other teams are maybe not scared, but they might be worried about it. And, they better, just like the Cowboys should think about what the Giants do on defense.

But, I guess what it boils down too, is a game if inches.

:D

For teams that have figured it out they sure aren't scoring much on us.

So much for realistic huh?
